About me

Hi. Welcome to my page and taking time to visit my profile.

I appreciate it can be difficult to deal with, and move on from challenging life events, past and present. We can all experience many feelings such as anxiety, depression, anger and fear. This may lead us to feel overwhelmed, out of control and uncertain in our everyday lives. Feel assured you are not alone and taking time to consider and understand your thoughts, feelings and emotions can be crucial to your wellbeing.

It is so important to be kind to yourself in order achieve fulfilling lives. I hope to support you with your difficulties, which will guide you in adopting and utilising skills both old and new.

My background

I qualified as a person-centred integrative counsellor in June 2021 so am guided by the client needs and their goals. This approach helps the client feel listened to and promotes empathy, congruence and unconditional positive regard. Having a positive therapeutic relationship gives the person time to think in the here and now, consider experiences and clarify and explore personal issues and difficulties. An integrative way of working uses several approaches to deal with individual experiences and optimise therapeutic benefits.

I am warm, approachable, non-judgmental and maintain and uphold values such as confidentiality, trust and respect. I aim to enable and empower my clients to explore their thoughts and feelings in a safe manner.

I have vast experience in supporting those with mental and physical health problems. I am currently a trainee traumatologist undertaking a post graduate course in Trauma and PTSD. This approach advocates a three-stage trauma informed process, involving stabilization and processing and combining the skills learnt in both. Since January 2022 I have also worked with those with Complex Post Traumatic Stress as part of this process. I have also spent valuable time volunteering as a trainee counsellor working with clients who experienced bereavement and loss, especially through the COVID- 19 pandemic.

I offer online, telephone and face to face and walking therapy as a professional sole practitioner under Dragonfly Counselling.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
