About us

At ACT, we  believe that counselling should be available to everyone who wishes to access it, which is why we believe in offering effective counselling at affordable prices.

We offer counselling to students, young people, and adults, both in- person and online.

In recent years, we have seen a rise in the need for support for young people, within education, who face enormous challenges and may be struggling with the pressures of university life.

We can help you navigate these challenges in a warm, supportive way.

A change in environment can be very daunting. Being away from home can feel scary or unfamiliar and cause loneliness. The increased pressure students feel, not only with exams and expectations, but with the worry of social acceptance and fitting in, may cause increased anxiety, and low mood.

We can offer a safe, inclusive space for you to talk about your worries and concerns and help you explore any life difficulties you may be facing.

A sense of overwhelm that a big city or change of habits can bring, along with the rise in the cost of living can be a real cause for stress.

We can help support you and give you the tools to help manage your stress in a safe space.

Transitioning from student to young professional can also bring with it it's own challenges. Looking for new accomodation and entering into the world of work or adjusting to post-graduate life can be a time of uncertainty. You may be feeling lost, under pressure, disorganised or unmotivated, or feel that you are at a standstill.

We can listen to you and hear how you are feeling as you learn a new routine. We can support you as you adjust and explore what your next steps will be.

At ACT our aim is to make counselling accessible to anyone who feels they need support. We offer all our clients a safe, warm, confidential space for exploration, reflection and self-realisation, which can make a life changing difference to each of them.

Our vision is to provide an inclusive, non-judgmental, confidential therapeutic service, which supports young people in education, and adults, engage in the full breathe of life.

We strive to offer effective, low cost therapeutic support so our clients can engage in the messiness of life with curiosity, creativity and perspective.

We have created a safe space where clients are seen and heard and where their courage to engage is celebrated.

Our focus is to offer affordable professional counselling to students and young people living in and around the Bristol area, by offering in-person sessions. We also offer online counselling sessions for those who either prefer this platform, or for those living further afield.

We all need support sometimes, and it can be difficult to ask for help. At ACT, we honour each persons individual journey, valuing their process, needs, and aspirations with respect, acceptance and compassion

If you feel now is the right time for you, please get in touch.

Member organisations *

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

We have verified that at least one professional at this organisation is registered with the relevant professional body.
