About me
I am a qualified and accredited counsellor and psychotherapist with an additional private practice in Wing, Leighton Buzzard. I have over 20 years of experience working in the voluntary, NHS and private sectors. I have offered counselling and group work within alternative educational provisions as well as working in primary/secondary schools.
I currently work in the NHS Child Adolescent Mental Health services and with Relate offering therapy to couples and individuals. I have experience facilitating DBT skills groups to support parents and young people experiencing difficulties with self-harm, emotional regulation and distress tolerance.
Throughout my training, I experienced a journey of self-discovery and growth. Working with clients i gained knowledge and experience being part of their therapeutic journey. Observing a client's courage, taught me the painful reality of mental health difficulties and how their internal reasoning and belief systems created self-destructive patterns of behaviour they often had little control over.
Many of my clients described these behaviour patterns over time as feeling themselves being chipped away in many areas of their lives. This affected their mental health which impacted upon their well-being, relationships, work, family and other areas of their lives
This influenced me further to attain additional qualifications using art, sand and play interventions as an addition to other methodologies of therapies. These interventions are useful to help clients access information often suppressed out of their conscious awareness. Once clients gain this awareness it offers them the possibility to create the changes that bring positive influences into their lives and an understanding of themselves in the world.
I believe, at the very core of our being, we all have the innate inner qualities that allows us to evolve and build resilience.
Training, qualifications & experience
My main source of work is offering a variety of therapeutic interventions to offer support to young people and the families with moderate to severe mental health challenges.
In private practice, I enjoy offering couples therapy. This therapeutic intervention supports the understanding of differences and helps couples to reconnect and express their feelings to each other in a safer environment. This process of awareness enables a couple to understand each other's concerns, whilst gaining validation of their individual experiences.
The building of trust between them teaches acceptance of each other and reduces the need to control which are familiar relational patterns within a couple relationship. Working through these differences together brings healthy change, understanding and intimacy back into their lives. Throughout the couple's work, couple's will be offered coping strategies and suggestions to implement at home.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
