About us

At the moment, because of high demand, therapy is temporarily being offered via video conferencing (Zoom, Skype, or VSee).

Our world can be challenging, frightening, overwhelming, complex, and hard to navigate, so it is not surprising that sometimes we do not feel OK. Therapy is one of the most important and empowering gifts we can give ourselves, as everyday mental and emotional maintenance is an essential part of not just surviving, but thriving.

We offer individual therapy for anyone aiming to better understand and manage their personal or work life, relationships, emotions, behavioural problems, stress, anxiety, and depression.

We offer couples therapy for partnered individuals experiencing conflict, communication issues, sexual and intimacy problems, or other relationship distress.

We also offer therapy for family members (parent and teen or adult child relationships, teen or adult sibling relationships etc.) or for friends who are experiencing conflict, communication issues, or other relationship distress or breakdown.

We can provide you with a confidential and objective sounding board, and work with you to create personalised, practical, goal-based strategies, support, and insight, using evidence-based therapies based on up-to-date psychological research.

Whether you are hoping to increase wellbeing, or to reduce more distressing mental health symptoms, there is a safe space for you to explore these here.

Areas of counselling we deal with

Other areas of counselling we deal with

Sisto works with clients experiencing institutional and organisational abuse and trauma, e.g. within schools, boarding schools, armed forces/naval settings, mental health facilities, psychiatric settings, hospital settings (acute hospital or in-patient), high demand religions, religious organisations, foster homes, adoption/pre-adoption settings, group homes, care homes, cults etc.

Maltreatment and abuse of power can range from neglect, to physical, emotional and sexual abuse and torture, as well as trauma from long-term ABA or behaviour modification.

Types of abuse can be overt, covert, institutionalised bigotry, program-related or systems-related, and can cover discriminatory abuse, financial abuse, neglect, verbal abuse, physical abuse, psychological abuse, emotional abuse, and sexual abuse.

Sisto also has a particular interest in the neurodiversity paradigm, and embraces a social justice movement which pushes for a shift away from the default dominant neurotypical pathologizing of mental, developmental and cognitive differences experienced within and by the neurodivergent community, and recognises the significant traumas suffered by neurodiverse individuals as a result of attempts to "treat" or "cure" their natural diversity.

Further information

For too long, therapy centres have been sterile, unwelcoming, clinical environments, adding to the stigma surrounding mental health care. Sisto has challenged that environment and approach by shifting the dialogue from "what is wrong with you" to "what has happened to you", and recognises the centrality of the complex range of life experiences in the emergence of mental distress, and the wider impact of social and relational circumstances, including trauma. Sisto's mission is to transform and modernise mental health culture by supporting committed individuals and couples to feel better, live authentically, and reach their full potential.
