Supervision details

At the moment, because of high demand, Supervision is temporarily being offered via video conferencing (Zoom, Skype, or VSee).

Sisto has undergone dual supervision training, holding CBT Supervision certification with the Beck Institute as well as broader Supervision certification which explores a number of different models and styles of supervision including Psychodynamic, Cognitive-Behavioural, Humanistic/Client-Centred, Integrative, Narrative, Solution-Focused, Trauma-Informed, and Attachment-Focused.

Sisto provides clinical supervision for Counsellors and Therapists at all stages and levels of their professional journey, as well as for Clinical Supervisors (supervision of supervision), and uses a number of supervision models and modalities to suit the particular needs, requirements, and demands of each individual and their chosen modalities, philosophical and/or theoretical leanings, and working environment(s).

Sisto is dedicated to helping therapists to develop and enhance their proficiency in CBT, using both the Cognitive Therapy Rating Scale-Revised (CTRS-R) and modified or original renditions of the Cognitive Therapy Rating Scale (CTRS). Additionally, Sisto is passionate about integrative and pluralistic psychotherapy. Sisto can assist supervisees in navigating and addressing any challenges stemming from thier client interactions, placements, academic pursuits, degree or diploma portfolios, and their own supervisory methods.

Within clinical supervision, Sisto takes care to adhere to such core processes as the supervisory relationship, promulgating ethical practices, and managing the administrative aspects of supervision. Sisto also ensures that supervisees are aware of their responsibility to adhere to relevant supervision ratios, and to work ethically within their private practices, workplace/employment settings, volunteer positions, or placement organisations.

For students in particular, Sisto can provide constructive feedback on audio/video recordings, in accordance with the requirements of such measures as the CTRS-R and other relevant competence framework criteria. Sisto can also help review case studies and other portfolio requirements, write interim and final supervision reports, and monitor clinical work and ethical practices.

Sisto's primary focus is to ensure that all supervisees are supported to provide high quality, ethical, and informed services, and focuses on principal functions of supervision, such as:

  • Personal and professional development - to promote your personal growth, both as individuals and within your relevant therapy or supervisory roles, supporting and enabling your reflection on self-awareness, and also on your responses and reactions within the counselling and psychotherapy, or supervisory process, in order to develop your knowledge, skills, congruent attitudes and qualities, and to delineate your learning needs.
  • Support, validation and gentle challenge, as you work to benefit your clients or supervisees, to provide space for you to discuss any areas of difficulty and also successes within your work, and to enable you to reflect on your current practice.
  • Accountability - to help you to maintain an ethical counselling, psychotherapy, or supervision practice, to help you to monitor your practice, to help you maintain standards of service, to help you to ensure quality and, where appropriate, to help you to work towards course completion (if in training), and accreditation by your chosen membership or regulatory bodies, where required.
