About me

It can be hard to open up, share feelings and thoughts, so I would like to offer a safe and secure place for you to be able to share some painful feelings, that perhaps not even you yourself have been able to access, unlock or express for some time. Equally, I am here for those moments you need a little guidance, kindness, authenticity and support when lost, feeling alone and wanting to get back on track.

We can look at these in a non-judgmental, relaxed and caring environment, where together we can explore your hopes, goals, learn ways to manage thoughts and feelings and make long-term changes to support maintainable improvements and most importantly, a place to talk freely.

I aim to make counselling support as accessible and affordable as possible and would support a call/videocall to discuss any questions or queries you may have before commencing your counselling journey. We can discuss this in initial contact, should you wish to do so.

My person-centered approach, centers around you as a person, looking holistically at your needs, and listening to what you feel, think and want to bring and take from the therapeutic sessions we have together. This can be for a short or long-term period, it really is about your needs here, and we will discuss this once we connect.

Training, qualifications & experience

I trained as a Person-Centered counsellor and Psychotherapist, obtaining a qualification via the Middlesex University. I also utilise compassion focused therapy, aspects of ACT, DBT and use some CBT tools where necessary, appropriate and expressed by you directly as a need that you have asked to be met.

I have experience working in the mental health services, for over 10 years, starting my career in NHS mental health services. I wanted to very much help people and felt that my passion and purpose has always been to do so.

I trained whilst working in mental health wards, in crisis mental health, community mental health support services and part of a psychiatric liaison team in A&E, where supporting mentally unwell patients would support the mental health needs of patients presenting in a busy and medically focused environment.

I worked within a drug and alcohol rehabilitation and support service as counsellor, running group support and 1:1 support for those attending and wanting to change their lives.

I have also worked within the children and young person (CYP) sectors, starting voluntarily supporting young people who were homeless or wanting a place to talk about a variety of mental health and life challenging issues, such as; anxiety, depression, bereavement and much more.

Also volunteering for Cruse bereavement services and Samaritans, obtaining knowledge and skills in supporting people who were bereaved, facing a bereavement or loss and suicidal or self-harm related thoughts and actions.

In relation to further CYP work, I worked for Barnardos as a counsellor for some time, supporting children and families with supporting their very young up to adolescent child(ren) through a range of mental and emotional health difficulties.

Also, I worked for 3 years in a hospice as a counsellor, supporting the dying, the pre-bereaved, the bereaved and group support. The group support was for both adults and CYP. I ran and facilitated a childrens bereavement group, and also a parents support group where parents were provided with space to have psychoeducation on bereavement but also to discuss together how it feels to be bereaved or be pre-bereaved and supporting their child(ren).

I am now working freelance for an employee assistance program (EAP) provider, providing support to employees who have a range of support needs and am soon to be supporting a family and CYP charity to support their referrals for families and CYP seeking ongoing support for their mental and emotional needs also.

I continue to grow and learn and always am enhancing my skills and practice to support clients to the highest standard ethically and first and foremost make you feel welcome, no judgement and a warm safe space to open up.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
