About me

Hello, my name is Nicola, and I am an integrative psychotherapist. I have experience working with trauma, bereavement, anxiety, depression, domestic violence, mental health diagnoses, adverse childhood experiences, low self-esteem, anger, and many other issues using insightful knowledge for change. It will be your choice of how you would like to work, always in a warm, confidential space with empathy and no judgment.

I have a comfortable, private room in Clitheroe, and I am available for face-to-face therapy, or I can work online, by telephone, or walk and talk. The different approaches I use are humanistic person-centred, emotion-focused therapy, solution-focused, behavioural, and brief therapy. This is a fancy way of saying that I can draw on different therapeutic theories and skills depending on your unique needs.

I can also offer purely person-centred creative mediums such as art, sound, dance, drama, and creative writing for expressing emotions. Creative therapies can be helpful if you find it difficult to put your thoughts and feelings into words. They may also help when addressing painful feelings, experiences, and trauma.

I am here for you to safely explore and manage issues such as anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, bereavement, and mental health conditions such as ADHD, Bipolar, and other concerns.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
