About me

Life can be challenging sometimes and you may feel overwhelmed by difficult feelings or behaviours.  Sometimes you may simply want to understand yourself better, realise your potential or improve your relationships.
I am a professionally qualified and registered Psychotherapist.  Psychotherapy aims to help you overcome obstacles to make sense of your internal world and feel understood and supported.  It could help you to achieve lasting and fulfilling change in relationships with others but also your most important relationship, the one you have with yourself.

What I Offer

Living and working in London, which is rich in diversity, I hold a further interest in working with family/partner dynamics, difference, belonging, identity, cultural issues and inter-generational trauma and understanding how these issues can affect people in the course of their everyday life.

I understand that sometimes taking that first step is the hardest one but often the most rewarding in the long-term.

I offer an initial consultation where we can explore your reasons for starting therapy and whether you feel open ended long-term therapy or time limited therapy (12 weeks) may be of use at this juncture in your life.  Starting therapy and deciding how long to be in therapy is a deeply personal decision.  I’m happy to be led by you so you feel comfortable exploring what may feel difficult, at your own pace.

Whilst COVID-19 has impacted the way in which therapy is delivered, I am committed to offering therapy sessions in person in a COVID-secure environment based in consulting rooms in both Victoria, central London and Chiswick, west London.  However, I understand that for some, online therapy may be the preferred option.  To that end, psychotherapy via Zoom video calls and telephone is also available nationally and for those based abroad.

Unfortunately, I am unable to offer blended therapy (a mixture of online / in person therapy) unless there are extenuating circumstances.

Please feel free to get in touch, learn more and book an Initial Consultation.  I'm looking forward to hearing from you and seeing how we can work together.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Theory and Practice from the Westminster Pastoral Foundation (WPF Therapy) & The University of Roehampton.

I have extensive experience working with disturbed and traumatised adults and adolescent clients involved in various criminal justice and forensic settings.  Alongside private practice, I continue forensic psychotherapy work at The Portman Clinic (Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust).

I am a registered member of the following organisations:-

British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC)

United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP)

Foundation for Psychotherapy and Counselling (FPC)

The Black, African and Asian Therapy Network (BAATN)

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BPC
British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC)

The British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) is a professional association, representing the profession of psychoanalytic psychotherapy.

The organisation is itself made up of fourteen member organisations and BPC accredits the trainings of its member organisations. An individual who qualifies from one of these trainings is then eligible for entry into the BPC's register.

BPC registrants are governed by a code of ethics, a policy of continuing professional development, a statement on confidentiality and a complaints procedure. The BPC is a Member Society of the European Federation for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy in the Public Sector (EFPP). Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
