About me

My name is Matthew, and I am an integrated counsellor dedicated to guiding individuals through various mental health challenges. With a compassionate approach grounded in personal experience and professional knowledge, I strive to create a safe and supportive environment where healing and growth can flourish.

Having navigated my own journey through depression, I understand firsthand the complexities of mental health struggles. This experience fuels my empathy and deepens my commitment to helping others overcome similar obstacles.

Through evidence-based therapeutic techniques and a collaborative partnership, I empower my clients to explore their emotions, navigate difficult experiences, and develop effective coping strategies. My ultimate goal is to facilitate healing, foster resilience, and support individuals as they journey towards greater emotional well-being and fulfilment.

Whether you're seeking support for yourself or a loved one, I am here to provide guidance, understanding, and hope. Together, we can navigate the complexities of mental health and embark on a path towards healing and transformation.

In my practice, I work with individuals facing a diverse array of challenges, including but not limited to depression and anxiety, trauma, PTSD, grief, self-esteem issues, men's issues and stress. Each person I work with is unique, and I tailor my approach to meet their specific needs and goals.

My collaborative approach empowers clients to actively participate in their therapeutic journey. I tailor my interventions to meet each individual's unique needs and goals, recognising that there is no one-size-fits-all solution to psychological healing. Whether providing reflective listening, exploring past experiences, or facilitating insight-oriented discussions, I adapt my techniques to best support the client's growth and self-discovery.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
