About me

Hello, I’m Lucy, I'm Director of Lucy’s Place CIC, an NHS Consultant Clinical Psychologist and registered with the HCPC. I recently founded Lucy’s Place CIC because I want to offer people holistic person centered care - a place to recover, connect and thrive! I am experienced in the treatment of a large range of mental health difficulties including depression, anxiety, PTSD and interpersonal problems. My career has focussed largely on complex difficulties, but at Lucys Place CIC I am keen to work with anyone that wants gain a better understanding, to make a change in their lives for the better, improve their wellbeing and sense of self. So please get in touch and we can decide together the best support for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

As a Clinical Psychologist I have had extensive postgraduate training across the lifespan. This means that I am skilled in assessment and formulation and can develop a shared understanding of what has contributed to you feeling this way.

I'm skilled in a range of evidence based approaches (EMDR, TFCBT, CAT, IPT & CBT) which means we can develop a personalised plan - whatever your needs may be. I offer individual psychological therapy, group therapy and  I offer clients the option to join complimentary community wellbeing meets in the outdoors.

Online therapy is offered to anyone in UK and an East Lothian clinic is available for all those that are able to travel to see me.

Lucy’s Place CIC offers both therapy you can trust and also if you wish access to a whole community of support.

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.

Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.

Areas of counselling I deal with

Other areas of counselling I deal with

My background clinically for the past ten years is working with ex armed forces on large range of issues. I am highly experienced with PTSD and complex PTSD, transitional problems, bereavement, depression and anxiety.

I have also worked with woman individually on CBT for symptoms of menopause. More recently I have started a group so that people can learn from shared experiences. It is called wonder women and I hope you can join us as it’s a lovely group.

The unique aspect of Lucy’s Place CIC is that I try to create a community of support, so in addition to high quality evidence based psychological therapy every client has the option to join us on a range of community wellbeing activities in the outdoors e.g. mindfulness walks, Munro bagging or learning to sail of paddle. This form activity with others has been shown to have positive benefits for wellbeing , if or when you feel ready.
