About me

Hi. At times we are challenged in life and we may need help to work through the issues that can affect in many ways. Whatever we are experiencing, either mild, moderate or severe, it can impact on our work and personal life greatly.  At times admitting we need a hand out of the situation can be a long journey.  Just getting to this point of looking for a therapist means you’ve addressed so much already and that you wish to take the next step. To find the right counsellor you need someone that is right for you. You’re going to be talking about some sensitive and uncomfortable stuff so its about working at your pace and trying to feel as comfortable as possible in a difficult situation. That is where the counselling relationship has to be right. Its knowing your safe and can discuss anything and know there's no judgement, no opinions or anything but support.

I am a qualified Intragrative counsellor so I'm trained in psychodynamic, Transactional Analysis, Cognitive behaviour therapy, Gestalt, Person Centred and Mindfulness.I have a Bachelor of science degree and Diploma in Higher education, both in Therapeutic counselling which I studied at Leeds Beckett University. This teaching of the various theories and psychology added to my own life experiences to give me the ability to address a vast array of issues people experience. I am also a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.

I have worked in Domestic abuse over the years, i work with perpetrators of abuse as well as survivors. Also work with relational issues on a 1-1 basis, no5 couple counselling. Alot of my clients are adukts on ASD/ADHD. These can have recent diagnosis or from childhood. I  get alot of parents who's children have ASD/ADHD, who dicuss their frustrations of being a parent figuring out their  child and how being on the spectrum affects the whole family at  times.

For me, counselling is a vocation not a job. My own personal experiences and my counselling training has enabled me to understand myself better and my patterns of behaviour. It has also taught me counselling can help by  giving understanding of why and what is affecting me. I feel this is so important for us to move forward and get on with our lives. We are always learning through all our life, so learning about ourselves is part of this understanding who we are and what affects us. So having me as your counsellor you can do this and get the information to understand what and why our issues can change us. So with counselling you can obtain the skills to change and allow growth to move on in life. My passion for counselling motivates me to always keep learning and understanding a person’s behaviour and thought process. Then to be able to apply coping mechanisms for the client to help create a positive way to help with their issues and discard the negative behavioural patterns we can adopt.

I work with clients from14 upwards. I treat each client individually as I understand everyone is unique and needs specific therapy appropriate to them.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
