About me
At Joanne Dixon Therapy, I work with a wide range of adults and also specialise in child and family therapy, providing a safe and nurturing space for families to heal and grow. Being a neuro-diverse counsellor allows me to work individually and integratively. Each session is tailored to meet each client's unique needs as they evolve.
My child therapy sessions provide a supportive and understanding environment for children to express themselves and work through their emotions using creative methods adapted to each individual.
I offer a whole family approach, supporting parents to navigate the challenges of raising children and strengthen their bonds within a safe, non-judgmental space.
My Family counselling sessions focus on improving communication, resolving conflicts, and building more robust, resilient family relationships.

As a previous foster parent, I have extensive lived experience, working therapeutically with trauma, attachment and compassion fatigue.
I have extensive experience working with children, young people and adults with neurodiversity. This allows me to intuitively work with each client in an individualized way, as we all have different processes and needs.
I use a range of therapies to suit each client's needs.
Person-centred listening, CBT, DBT, mindfulness, Coaching and creative/play therapy.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
