About me
My own life journey led me to this profession, which I love and on which I place a very high value. My extensive training was a worthwhile addition to my own personal, as well as professional life and it ensures that I can support you to overcome what is currently overwhelming, or troubling you. There are lots of reasons why you may want support and my experience is, getting through the door is the hard nerve-wrecking part and everyone feels the same. But once you've done that, I'll help you feel comfortable and build a relationship with you, so that talking is so much easier. You may then wonder why you didn't do it before! You have to feel ready and there's no pressure, no judgement. Have the courage to know you can get to a better place, but only when you feel it's the right time.
What is it that I do?
I provide professional Person-centred and Integrative counselling for adults (including adolescents/ young adults) and also for couples, where we can explore and gain insight into any issues, or troubles and see if we can find a way, together, to make life easier for you.
It's primarily person centred counselling (talking therapy), meaning it is all about you, the client and the therapy tools. The knowledge, skills and expertise used, will be unique to you as an individual. No two people are alike, have the same life story, or feel the same, even if they have experienced the same things in life, or have similar feelings, or symptoms. Each event in life is experienced differently by each person and therefore can affect them in very different ways. No-one knows exactly how you feel!
The process of therapy will be built on us having a great therapeutic relationship, where you can feel safe to open up and explore things you may not want to say out loud to yourself, or anyone else - without feeling embarrassed, judged, criticised, shamed, or a burden. Very often we don't share our inner most thoughts and feelings for this reason. The therapy room is a safe place for us to explore, unpick, get beneath the layers and find out what it is your body and mind are troubled by and hopefully start to understand why you are the way you are and what different choices you have, to make any changes you might want to.
There's no judgement here, you will be heard and your feelings will be validated. This is all about you. I have a passion for helping people find self compassion and to practice self kindness. It's something we are never taught, or think is selfish, or having an ego. But they are the basic principles to learn to feel different about yourself and others.
Therapy is often not easy, especially if your past, or present is currently emotionally painful. But with support and the willingness to move forward, your journey can lead you to a happier, peaceful and more content place.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
I understand it is very difficult to decide to come to therapy, but I guarantee to offer you an open, friendly, honest and genuine experience, to make this as comfortable and safe for you as possible.
I consistantly receive lovely feedback from my clients that they feel very at ease with me and that it feels easy to share openly with me and that they're initially surprised that I'm just an ordinary Inverclyde gal.
I love and am very passionate about making a difference and to work with and support people from all walks of life from my own home towns.
