About me
I have experience working with adults, children and young people from diverse backgrounds and with a wide range of life issues. Whether you are experiencing anxiety, depression, bereavement, addiction, relationship problems, work issues, disordered eating, self-harm, amongst others, I can help. I have wide experience supporting people around issues related to autism, ADHD or other forms of neurodiversity. I work face-to-face, online, telephone and walk-and-talk.
How can counselling help me?
You may be finding yourself feeling overwhelmed and bewildered by the challenges of life You may be finding yourself yearning for change but lost as to how to bring this about. Counselling can help provide the support needed to see and understand the patterns and habits that exist in our thoughts, feelings and behaviour. Counselling can provide the direction forward into greater awareness and freedom, allowing life to be lived in a more engaged, happier and authentic way.
My Approach
My core training is as a Person-centered counsellor and, working from this basis, I know that the client-counsellor relationship in itself can be deeply healing. The experience of being truly seen and heard in an empathic, compassionate and non-judgemental way can be transformative. The process of change often starts with fully accepting who we are in the present moment and I am committed to creating a safe space for this to take place.
Recognising that, as we are all individuals and have changing needs, I have pursued further training and now work in an integrative way, being flexible to what works best for each person in the moment. My focus will always be what supports your process of change, deepening self-understanding and awareness.
I have extensive experience working with children, teenagers and young adults, in schools, in organisations and in private practice. I am able to work with sensitivity to find ways to allow young people to express and work through their feelings; this may be by talking, therapeutic play, creative arts and movement, depending upon the age of the young person. My previous background as a Steiner kindergarten teacher means that I am also experienced and confident working with young children who are experiencing difficulties.
