About me

How can counselling help me?

When you are seeking counselling, you need to know that you are in safe hands and with someone you can trust. I am a caring and kind person and I offer a safe, respectful, non-judgemental and confidential space to talk where we can explore unresolved issues and help you feel better.  I can help to reduce anxiety, stress and depression.

What should I expect in my first session?

In your first session we will begin to get to know each other and you'll start to explain what brings you to counselling.  I will also be able to answer any questions you have.

How many sessions will I need?

You decide how many sessions you would like, and how often you’d like them to be, and you can change this at any time.  I offer counselling that is tailored around you.  My goal is for you to begin to heal and resolve your difficulties, however long or short that takes.

What experience have you got?

I can provide counselling for all area's, and I specialise in anxiety, depression, abuse and bereavement.  I have experience of working with the emergency services and the difficulties faced, and I welcome shift workers.

I am fully qualified (DipCouns) in integrative therapy and a registered member of the BACP.   I specialise in a therapy called Person Centred but I combine other theories where I feel it may help you.

I have a total of 5 years experience counselling adults and young people.

Outside of counselling I am a Mum, I enjoy creative arts and a good book.

How much does it cost?

I offer an introductory session for 50 minutes for £35.  After that each session lasts 50 minutes and costs £50.  Payment should be made at least 24 hours in advance.

Can I see you in person or on-line?

I currently have appointments available face to face from my counselling room in Kempshott, Basingstoke, or I can also see you on Zoom from the comfort of your own home anywhere in the UK.

Do you have appointments available at the moment?

Yes I do.  I have some appointments available during days and evenings.  Get in touch to find out more.

How do I contact you?

It is best to contact me via email.  janeaylwardcounselling@btinternet.com.

However if you prefer to telephone me, there is an answerphone and I will call you back as soon as I can.  Please state when is the best time to call you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
