About me

Hello, my name is Emma, I am a Psychologist and I believe in creating a safe and supportive space for you to talk and share your experiences. I can usually offer an Initial Consultation within a fortnight.

I support people who are facing issues such as relational problems, family issues, stress, anxiety, low mood, addiction, eating disorders, anger problems, illness, life changes, bereavement, abuse, among many more.

I offer both short and long term therapy and am trained in a variety of approaches so that I can adapt my practice to you and your goals. In my practice I aim to empower you to build your understanding of yourself, develop new coping strategies, build your sense of self compassion and overcome your difficulties.

I value and respect the courage it can take to begin therapy and believe in providing a kind and non-judgmental atmosphere where you will feel listened to and well-supported.

I also offer tailor-made workshops to organisations (e.g. mindfulness, stress management, psychology education).

Training, qualifications & experience

I have 14 years experience working in the NHS, charities, counselling services and private practice. I have a BSc Psychology, MSc Mental health studies and a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology.

I use the following therapy approaches in my practice: Person-centred, Psycho-dynamic, Existential, Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), Compassion focused therapy (CFT), Solution-focused therapy, and Mindfulness based therapy. I also believe that the therapeutic relationship is a key part of what makes therapy both effective and healing.

I also offer supervision for therapists and trainee therapists.

Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
