About me

I've always believed that no matter how much training and knowledge a counsellor may have, the connection and trust that’s built  is what truly makes our journey together a positive and collaborative one. That's why I always encourage a free 20 minute introductory call to help us discover whether I am the right person to support you with whatever you may be going through.

I'm Eliza. Over the past eight years, my clients have come to me feeling overwhelmed, struggling to cope, and not knowing how to navigate life’s many challenges. Through offering a compassionate and non-judgemental space for them to gently unravel their thoughts with me, I’ve witnessed them move from a place of despair to a place of hope and empowerment.

"From the very first session with Eliza, I found a sense of hope and direction that I never knew existed. It has been truly eye-opening and I wholeheartedly recommend anyone facing challenges to seek support from Eliza."  M.S

Each client journey is unique, yet the common outcome everyone seeks is simply to feel better. Feeling better will mean something different to each individual and it’s important to me that from our very first session together we are working towards this for you, in a way that you feel comfortable with.

Unlike confiding in a friend or family member, where you may worry about their reactions or how it impacts their own lives, therapy with me offers a safe haven for you to express yourself freely. You can explore any part of your life without fear, knowing that I'm here to genuinely listen and support you.

If you're grappling with a painful loss, life transition, or any other challenge, and you're feeling overwhelmed with emotions like misery, anxiety, anger, or confusion, I'm here to help. Together, we can untangle your thoughts, develop strategies to cope with difficult feelings, and navigate decisions about change. My aim is to help you regain your confidence, optimism, sense of self, and clarity of direction.

My approach to therapy is tailored to your individual needs and I recognise that what works for one person, doesn’t work for another. I have a genuine care for, and desire to understand each and every individual I work with. Everything will be at a pace that puts you at ease, even if I feel like it would be helpful to gently challenge you at times.

I utilise my clinical expertise, training and intuition to help my clients who are struggling with difficulties including:
·      Low Mood
·      Depression
·      Anxiety
·      Hopelessness
·      Anger
·      Stress
·      Relationship Issues
·      Grief
 ·     Low self esteem

·      Lack of self belief
·      Adapting to new life circumstances

I have experience working with a range of difficulties, with clients from a variety of backgrounds and orientations. One of my specialisms is working with grief and bereavement, having worked for a bereavement charity for the past 6 years. I support individuals, offering care and compassion through their grieving process, exploring the often complicated, confusing and messy feelings that can come from a bereavement. The process of grieving looks different for every individual, and I offer a safe and healing space for you to process and express your feelings safely, gently and at your own pace. I often bring in models of grief to help you understand the process of grieving, and to normalise the experience you are going through. I believe that the grief will always be a part of you but is not the whole of you. Therefore, I also offer a space where we can explore how you can learn to live your life alongside your grief, helping you to find a healthy way to move forward with your life.

However difficult things are feeling for you right now, my experience has lead me to believe that there is always potential for things to change and get better.

Either in person or via video call, you will have my sole focus and care throughout our sessions together.

As an ethical practitioner, I hold membership with BACP and I abide by their professional regulatory standards.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • BA (Hons) Humanistic Counselling Practice  (2019)
  • PG Diploma in Child and Adolescent Counselling
  • Masters in Integrative Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy (in training - completed 4 year course and teaching modules).

I have a particular interest in working with individuals who are experiencing low self-esteem and self-confidence.  In today’s society, where certain aspects of ourselves are often hidden to seek approval, I offer a space where every part of you is accepted and valued, helping you live a life that is more aligned to who you are and in line with your 'gut' feeling.

I am an integrative counsellor, trained to work flexibly and using various approaches best suited to your needs. Drawing primarily from a person-centred approach, I believe that the relationship between us is the heart of our work.  I am genuinely interested in you as a person, and we will work collaboratively at a pace that feels right for you. I believe that we all know the destination we would like to head to, and my role is helping you on your journey.

I also incorporate other therapeutic approaches, such as psychodynamic therapy, which can be helpful if you are feeling stuck or notice unhelpful repetition of familiar patterns and behaviours. Exploring this together, we can help to make sense of where these have come from, helping you to live a life that you want to lead.

In addition, I sometimes integrate creative techniques into my work. For example, art can be a powerful tool; a way of expressing something that is just sometimes too difficult to articulate through words alone.

Experience
I have extensive experience working therapeutically with adults, children and young people and children in a range of settings, both online and face to face.

I currently work in private practice with adults, experiencing a range of issues in their lives. I also provide therapy sessions to NHS staff.

I also have worked with children and young people in both the charity sector and various school settings. Currently, I am work at Rephael House, a charity, where I offer long-term therapy to various age groups and reflective parenting sessions.  I also work with Grief Encounter, supporting bereaved individuals and families, facilitating therapeutic group interventions and workshops.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
