About me

Welcome, I’m Eilidh.

I am a Humanistic and Integrative Counsellor and a registered member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS), offering counselling to both adults and children.

Life is rarely travelled without experiencing a period of difficulty. These can be as short as a day, or sometimes for what seems like forever. The impact and cause can be obvious and in-the-present, or sometimes less so, perhaps from your distant past. No matter the cause, you may be left depressed, anxious, or consumed by negative thoughts. The onset of feeling stuck and alone, not knowing what to do, often accompanies these emotions.

Counselling provides a safe environment to work together through these difficulties within a trusting relationship.  I offer a warm, accepting, non-judgmental and confidential space, where we can work collaboratively to explore your thoughts and feelings at a pace that feels comfortable to you, and where you can be yourself and feel truly listened to.

I believe a person’s journey through counselling should be as individual as they are, so I work within an integrative modality, drawing on various therapeutic models to suit each individual client.  I look at the whole person and your place within the world. The Humanistic element of my approach is rooted in the belief that all individuals have the resources to support themselves through healing and growth, and that you are the expert in your own life.

My role as your counsellor is not to give you advice, but simply to be by your side as you explore your feelings, thoughts, and experiences within a warm, compassionate, accepting relationship.  I passionately believe that this approach can be transformational, and will help with gaining clarity, increasing self-awareness, and can support you in finding a way of coping with your struggles.

During our introduction session we will explore what brings you to seek support at this time and what you would like to achieve from counselling.

I offer short-term, long-term, and open-ended counselling. Long-term and open-ended work allow us to explore further back in your history.  I will work with you to look curiously and compassionately at your past, helping you to better understand the patterns and attitudes that may be holding you back from making positive changes.  Short-term work is more solution focused where we explore the present.

As a Counsellor I appreciate taking that first step and making contact can be difficult. Please be assured you will be met with warmth and acceptance.
