About me

Hello, I'm David. The first steps to starting therapy can often feel overwhelming. I'm here to help make the process as comfortable and calming as possible.

Counselling can enable you to talk about difficult situations and feelings with a trained practitioner. It is a process that may help with exploring your thoughts and emotions and gaining self-awareness. Knowing ourselves at a deeper level can enable us to make better decisions in life.

Clients finish therapy with me feeling more grounded, with a deeper sense inner peace, and clarity.

If you're feeling lost, anxious, hopeless, and in need of some support, know that you're not alone. We will all struggle in our lives at some point - it's part of the human experience and many face challenges in life that can leave them feeling overwhelmed, anxious, depressed, alone, and uncertain about the future.

I offer a kind and supportive space, to listen to you with an open heart, with genuine warmth and non-judgmental acceptance.

I warmly welcome you to reach out by email initially, then we can set up a free 15 minute phone call to discuss the possibility of working together with no obligation to proceed.

I am a fully registered BACP member offering one-to-one counselling for adults aged 18 years and over, in a safe, confidential, and supportive space. I work from The Therapy Rooms in Montpellier (Bristol) and also offer telephone or online counselling for those who live further afield or prefer that means of communication.

I have experience working with people who have complex needs and I bring these skills to my counselling practice.

Some of the difficulties I work with include depression; anxiety; stress; losses in life such as loss of a relationship, direction, identity or career; bereavement; low self-confidence/ low self-esteem; mental abuse; panic attacks and life changes.

I am an avid believer in the healing powers of nature, therefore as well as offering indoor, online and telephone counselling, I also offer outdoor walking and talking therapy in green spaces around Bristol and Frome (Somerset). Please contact me for more information.

My approach is integrative, with a Person-Centred influence. I believe the therapeutic relationship offers the potential for positive change. Central to my work is establishing an empathic and non-judgemental relationship with my clients where they can feel safe to express difficult feelings and talk about experiences at their own pace.

As a registered member of The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I adhere to their Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions. I receive regular supervision and I am committed to developing and maintaining my knowledge and expertise through continued professional development.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

I charge £45 per 50 minute session via telephone or online. I charge £48 per 50 minute session face-to-face from Bristol Therapy Rooms.

I offer prospective clients an initial free 15 minute telephone or online consultation, during which we will talk about what you would like to achieve from counselling. This also gives us the opportunity to get to know each other a little. It is very important that you feel I am someone you can talk to comfortably.

If we decide to work together, we will agree a time and date for our first 50 minute session. All subsequent meetings will take place at the same time each week. We will also agree whether we meet face-to-face, online or by telephone.

I look forward to hearing from you. Please email me here.
