About me

My name is David, I am a qualified counsellor and my approach to counselling is person centred, however I integrate other models to ensure I meet your authentic, unique needs to enable you to explore and make meaning of your situation. I am an experienced counsellor with a wealth of real-life wisdom, and I have experienced firsthand how tough life can become. I have a BA degree in counselling, and I am an accredited member of the national counselling & psychotherapy society, which I work within there ethical framework. Being a counsellor isn’t a job for me it’s a vocation. My lifetime love for helping others and passion for therapy and continual study has helped transform the lives of my clients struggling with a wide range of issues. I have a keen interest in the spiritual elements of counselling and believe that if you find meaning and purpose you can overcome anything life throws at you.

I am based in Gateshead, South Shields and Chester-Le-Street and offer face-to-face, telephone and walk and talk therapy session. My walk and talk therapy sessions are a laid-back approach compared to traditional face-to-face counselling which may feel a little daunting for some people at first. Here we will walk and talk at your given pace along the stunning coastline of South Shields with the addition of providing a healthy dose of exercise and exposure to nature which are well-proven to increase mood and overall well-being.

Whether its face to face, telephone or my walk and talk therapy sessions, from me you can expect trust, empathic understanding, respect in a relaxed and safe environment. I am here to help you through your dark times, understand and overcome any difficulties you are facing. Together we will co create the awareness and tools you need to become the best version of yourself. I offer a free 30-minute consultation to discuss your needs and how we can collaborate on your journey.
