About me

I am an accredited counsellor working with adults, children (10 years upwards), and young people.  I have 9 years experience working in private practice, agencies, schools and colleges.  My pronouns are she/her.

I use an integrative approach, so use different ways of working according to your needs.

I am a Professional Accredited Member of the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society (NCPS, formerly NCS) and also a registered Member of BACP, so I adhere to their ethical frameworks and codes of practice.

I am on the NCPS accredited register for working with children and young people.  I am BUPA registered.

Counselling Adults
We all have times when things are difficult and talking with someone outside our situation can be helpful to offload but also to get perspective. I will explore with you to help you get a better understanding of what’s going on for you, why you are feeling as you do and to help you to find a way forward.

I offer a confidential, safe place to explore, without judgement. I can teach you techniques to help you manage your situation but you are ‘in the driving seat’, so our work will always be focused on you, with you choosing the direction of the work.

My experience includes working with anxiety, depression, relationship problems, bereavement, low self-esteem, sexuality issues, trauma and abuse, as well as and many more life problems (see list below).

My ways of working vary according to your needs. For example, some people find a creative approach helpful, finding it easier to express their feelings by drawing or writing. I would explore with you to find out the best way for us to work together.

I offer an informal initial chat, with no commitment, for you to decide if  I am the right counsellor for you.  Just get in touch!  I look forward to meeting you!

Counselling Children and Young People
I am an experienced children and young people’s counsellor, helping them to cope with the particular stresses they face today. I have a post qualifying Advanced Diploma in Counselling Children and Young People, and I am on the NCPS accredited register for working with children and young people. I help young people to build tools to cope with anxiety, bullying, peer pressure etc. I work to build self-esteem and resilience in young people as I believe these are important life skills.

Sometimes young people have suicidal thoughts or use self-harm in order to cope. If this is you, you are not alone. We would explore what has led to this. I would help you to express your feelings and to find better ways of coping and moving forwards.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
