About me

At any time, we can find ourselves struggling to cope with everyday life. It could be something from the past that has always been in the shadows, or perhaps a recent event that impacts on our emotional and physical wellbeing.  Whatever the problem, talking and working things through in your own way can really help.

The type of counselling I practice is a talking therapy based around an integrated model of relational depth. This incorporates a Person Centred, Gestalt and Psychodynamic approach that focusses on emotions, feelings, body language and patterns of relating.  This gives me flexibility in how I work as I know that everyone is unique.  Our work together would help to raise your self-awareness, develop greater clarity and explore relational patterns with a hope to increase well-being, resolve the difficulties you are experiencing and attain greater agency over your life.  Therapy is a joint effort which requires you to commit yourself to the process, and at times this may involve the arousal of uncomfortable feelings which I will support you through, whilst also sensitively challenging when I think this might be helpful.

Training, qualifications & experience

Experience

As well as working with clients from all walks of life for many years I have spent a lot of time supporting survivors of domestic abuse and helping those in the homeless pathway.  This has given me a lot of experience of working with a wide range of mental health problems such as anxiety, depression, bereavement, stress, low self-esteem, OCD, relationship difficulties, self-harm and trauma.

Training

  • Level 5 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling
  • Post grad certificate in Psychodynamic Counselling
  • Certificate in online and Telephone counselling

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
