About me
At any time we can find ourselves struggling to cope with everyday life. It could be something from the past that has always been in the shadows, or perhaps a recent event that impacts on our emotional and physical wellbeing. Whatever the problem, talking and working things through in a non-judgmental, safe and supported space can really help.
The type of counselling I practice is based around an integrated model which gives me a lot of flexibility in the way I work as I know that everyone and their experience is unique. The focus of our work together would be to help explore and understand how you are feeling and to look deeper into what may be hidden beneath the surface. This may bring up some uncomfortable emotions which I will support you through, whilst also sensitively challenging when I think this might be helpful. Experiences, both in the present and the past may be negatively affecting how you feel, act and relate to both yourself and others, so the aim would be to help raise your self-awareness, develop greater clarity, and explore relational patterns with a hope to increasing your well-being, resolve the difficulties you are experiencing, and attain greater agency over your life.
Training, qualifications & experience
Experience
As well as working with clients from all walks of life for many years I have spent a lot of time supporting victims of domestic abuse within the Oxfordshire domestic abuse service (ODAS), and I also currently work to support those in the homeless pathway. This has given me a lot of experience and knowledge of working with a wide range of mental health problems such as anxiety, depression, relationship problems, low self-esteem, stress, OCD, bereavement, self-harm and trauma.
Training

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
