About me

I can support you with any issue no matter your age. My private practice, ABM Counselling, is now celebrating 13 years.  Book either face to face sessions or meet me online.

As a qualified and BACP registered Counsellor I see people of all ages, so adults, children and teens. Over the years I have supported individuals, and couples, with all kinds of issues, for example anxiety, abuse, depression, panic attacks, bereavement, trauma, addiction, eating disorders, stress, anger problems, low self-esteem, relationship problems or generally feeling sad. Please contact me if you have questions and want to find out more.

I have been seeing clients in East Kilbride since 2007. In 2011 I opened ABM Counselling, in a warm and welcoming area of The Village. What you tell me is confidential and will be met without judgement.

Find the root of your problem
I can help you become clearer about why your situation/issue is so difficult for you. Knowing gives you a choice to do something about it and I can help you look at what you can do to feel better. It will help you feel less stuck. You will become more empowered and feel more in charge of your life again.

Therapeutic Counselling is based on a mindfulness approach and it works for all different problems and for all ages. I integrate Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Person Centred and Gestalt. I also use Psychotherapy as part of the process.

Children and teens
Besides supporting adults I also provide a service for children and young people, based on counselling, meditation and mindfulness. For children it can be difficult to express their emotions as they might not have the words or the emotions might be too painful. With a mixture of counselling, relaxation, meditation and mindfulness, to best suit the individual, I can help them explore different ways of expressing those emotions or ways to find peace within. All in a supportive and non-judgemental environment.

You're in charge
There is not a set number of sessions you need to attend. It all depends on you and your needs and wishes. You can also decide how often you want to see me.

My background
I have a background in working in various projects for people with all different kinds of physical disabilities, mental health problems and learning disabilities. The step towards counselling came naturally, especially when I became aware of how difficult it could be for people to access counselling.

By my name you can probably guess that I am Swedish, but I have lived in Scotland since 1997. I work mainly in English, but if you are Swedish we could also work using our native tongue.

Please visit my website on http://counselloreastkilbride.co.uk for more information or go to my facebook page on http://www.facebook.com/pages/ABM-Counselling/273182956073546?v=info#!/pages/ABM-Counselling/273182956073546?sk=wall where you could leave me messages, ask questions or just read some inspiring quotes of life.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Areas of counselling I deal with

Other areas of counselling I deal with

The model of counselling that I use works for all different kinds of issues. It is effective in helping you to see the root of your problem. It will help you become clearer about what is happening for you in the area where you have difficulties. When you become more aware of what is happening and if you choose to I will support you at looking at what you can do to change.

For children and young people it can be very difficult to express their emotions as they might not have words to describe how they feel. Through meditation and mindfulness they will explore other ways to express who they are and develop tools to be able to deal with issues. They will also be met with a non-judgemental and supportive attitude and given opportunities to find peace and strength within.
