About me
Are you struggling with anxiety, depression, addiction or trauma? Do you find it hard to cope with day to day life? Do you feel lonely or isolated after a life changing event or loss? Or do you just feel low and can't work out why life's more challenging than it should be?
Life can be hard sometimes and in the process of living it, we can often become disconnected from the world around us and the people in it, but more importantly become disconnected from ourselves. This is when professional help is needed.
I am a fully qualified MBACP registered counsellor that will help you on your journey of self-development and therapeutic healing. As well as offering traditional counselling/psychotherapy privately, I specialise in addictions, working within the private, residential rehabilitation sector, and I have also been in recovery for a number of years myself, having gone through my own journey in rehab, 12 step recovery and private therapy.
Experience in this sector has shown me that the most addictive thing in the world is not a substance or behaviour, but your thoughts and belief systems. As human beings we are conditioned from an early age and throughout our lives, through our experiences and environments to think in certain ways about ourselves, the world around us and the people in it.
I will walk alongside you to help you unpack the thoughts, feelings and emotions you have attached to your life experiences, to help you find peace within yourself as I have. We will work together to identify your needs and work towards your goals, by building a safe, non-judgmental environment in which you can grow, become empowered and bring a positive change in to your life.
My aim is to create a safe space for you to explore your thoughts, feelings and emotions in an environment that's based on trust.
I will offer you a new perspective, as you often get stuck thinking about situations from a single view point that causes you pain. This dictates how you think and feel, which in turn manifests your reality as thoughts become things.
Working in the private rehabilitation sector as well as traditional counselling and psychotherapy, I come across clients from all walks of life, with a wide range of issues that are underpinned by trauma. I believe that getting to the route cause of a persons pain and giving them a space to explore their emotions is where clients truly find freedom and peace of mind.
Many of my clients have found freedom and peace of mind from deep trauma in their lives such as:
Bereavement/Suicide
Sexual Abuse
Childhood trauma/abuse
Dysfunctional family environments
Relationship breakdowns
Divorced parents
Children of alcoholics/addicts
Neglect
Bullying
Loneliness
Loss of identity
Depression
Anxiety
Chronic illness
All Illicit substances
Alcohol
Prescription Medication
Eating Disorders
OCD
Gambling
Self Harm
Sex/Love/Relationship Addiction
CO-Dependency
I believe you have your own inner resources to overcome what ever is holding you back from achieving your full potential, and living a happy and fulfilling life. My job is to simply help you recognise and use yours, so you can be at peace and enjoy being you.
The first session with a new therapist can be quite a daunting prospect.
What will they be like?
Will we click?
What's going to happen?
Firstly as a commitment to ethical practice I offer a free 15 minute telephone assessment to establish if I am the right therapist for your needs, before we have our first session together.
In our first session we will work together to establish what your needs and expectations are, and how we might obtain them together.
My approach to therapy is underpinned by the relationship between myself and my client's, so there is no obligation to book more sessions straight away, you will have time to reflect on the session before continuing, giving you space to make sure you are happy to do so and that I'm the right therapist for you.
Moving forward, our sessions will be open ended, so your never tied down to a specific amount of sessions, this is always tailored to your needs.

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
