My journey into the world of therapy has been fascinating, primarily due to the type of people that I have been fortunate to meet, all unique, all suffering and all motivated to change and to learn how to enjoy a better life.
My clinical experience involves working with adults and young people, on a one to one basis or alternatively work involving couples and familly counselling.
Many individuals suffer from more than one problem such as general confusion with them self and/or external life issues, these events can then compound and create relationship issues. Often this cycle of helplessness/hopelessness may lead onto addiction(s), eating disorders, abuse and other sexual issues.
It is not unusual for individuals that are going through some of these difficulties to also be struggling with low self-esteem and low self-confidence, this can create feelings of profound anxiety and depression.
There are times when some of the problems being experienced by individuals are occurring through unresolved anger that may be child related or indeed adult related.
Other situations that frequently arise may have been completely out of an individuals control, resulting in post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), or sometimes stress at work or at home, bereavement, termination, abortion or miscarriage. This is when some other symptoms develop, these need to be worked through to alleviate the individuals suffering. Some of the symptoms include; phobias, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and social anxiety.
DOMESTIC ABUSE, is an area that I am passionate about and bringing about change is my priority. Domestic abuse has many different forms and affects all classes of people, all abuse is wrong including emotional abuse, whereby an abusive person may control finances and belittle you in many other ways, behind closed doors and in public, the abuser doesn't care about your hurt in fact they feed off you, metaphorically speaking. It's often hard to face up to the abuser, and to admit that it's happening to you, you begin to live a life of pretence, perhaps looking fine to the outside world but crumbling inside. The important thing is that you don't have to suffer in silence, with careful planning and accurate therapy, individuals can break free and put an end to the monsters that try to destroy them. Remember, abusers are often very charming and in many cases are suffering from serious mental health problems, their blackness is transferred onto you, learn to fight back.
Many individuals are subjected to this type of abuse including professional people who tend to feel trapped by shame - guilt & worry about acknowledging or admitting the circumstances that they have found themselves in. The outside world seem to think.; How lucky you are, with your gorgeous children in private education, lovely house & luxurious car. These individuals often have no where to turn! They too are feeling trapped.
Another fundamental part of my work is within the area of anger management, and rehabilitation work with individuals suffering from acquired brain injury.
Families and in particular working with children is a very rewarding area to work within, an area of passion resonates within this area, primarily because it doesn't have to take months to figure out what is actually happening within the world of the families.
I train and supervise students and other professionals in mental health issues and in attaining qualifications in counselling.
I use an eclectic approach, this includes Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Gestalt Therapy, Experiential Therapy, Psychodynamic and Person Centred Therapy.
Many individuals need help but don't know where to turn, never be afraid to ask for help as it could change your life! Healthy Minds Succeed.

MY PHILOSOPHY IN A NUT SHELL
You can't always stop the waves that engulf you, but you can become a passionate emotional surfer, with passion comes perseverance. Nothing changes until you change it, shift your mindset because life really does matter. Clarity about your life is about focus and courage, it's about how HEALTHY MINDS SUCCEED.
Why pay attention to the things that are not important, or things that you cannot change, this uses up precious energy that could be utilized into moving on with your life. Why allow these things dominate you, learn how to let them go and use your energy for your future.
If you want a better, more fulfilling life then focus on how to achieve it, don’t just, ‘wait in a familiar, uncomfortable place’, move out into the areas that you want to experience. When we grow up we are taught to stay within the walls that are familiar but actually you don’t have to when you get older, you can go for different opportunities that are outside of our familiar walls.
Motivation to change is imperative, the goals that direct the change you are instrumental, and the energy required to sustain the change is fundamental. Take a parachute and take the jump.
We all have a number of needs that can be addressed and monitored; Physiological and safety needs, love and a sense of belonging, self-esteem needs, cognitive and aesthetic needs, once these have been achieved, then you realize that your full potential as an individual has been accomplished.
Access to the life that you strive for, requires your desire to change and your attention to what requires changing. At a cognitive level, your conscious and unconscious patterns of behaviour, your motivation and evaluation of where you have been and where you are going, are all necessary precursors for life modifications.
Nobody has to remain in their default position, a static familiar space that feels familiar but uncomfortable. Embrace opportunities to change your life and elements of yourself, it’s easier than you think. Learn to think differently, don’t be squashed by your past, push forward in what you believe in and believe in what you can offer.
