About me
Hello and a warm welcome.
My name is Ulrika, and I am here to offer you my help and support, to both individuals and couples. The counselling sessions I offer will focus on you and how to best promote and increase your wellbeing and mental health during our therapeutic working relationship. The aim is to help you to develop and strengthen your resilience and find the self-help tools necessary to manage and deal with the difficulties and challenges you face. These can include, but are not limited to, exhaustion, burnout, anxiety, depression, low moods, problems juggling home life with work life, relationship breakdowns, illness, experiencing financial difficulties or bereavement. There are times in life when we may find things more challenging and we struggle to hold everyday life together and cope with the stress it causes us. It could be triggered by a recent event, but be caused by experiences rooted in the past that show up in your present. Life may have become overwhelming and you may need some support and a place where you can vent without fear of being judged or told what to do.
If you feel that l may be able to help you, your counselling sessions with me will be your time to breathe and have a safe place to talk, where you are the focus. My approach is a combination of a person-centred and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. The person-centred approach is based on you controlling and deciding the content and direction of your sessions. I am here to listen and help you find your own answers.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Consultation and Assessment
The 30 min. free consultation is to gather some information and an understanding of what you are looking for and what has brought you to counselling. In this way, we can discuss and agree on how we can work together and formulate a custom-made treatment plan for you. Your counselling session would follow straight after the consultation and assessment. Please allow 1hr 30 min for this.
Walk and Talk
‘Taking a traditional counselling session outdoors’ can be helpful for those who do not often get the opportunity to be outdoors. One of the benefits, apart from fresh air and exercise, is that walking together side-by-side often relaxes the client and reduces the sense of restriction that can be imposed by four walls. I have an Animal Assisted Therapy business, so if you would like a dog to accompany us on the walk and talk, that can be discussed.
I am also offering my services to the PEAP.
