About me

If you are looking at this page the chances are that you (or perhaps a loved one) are looking for a change, for ways to accept yourself or to love yourself more fully.

I am a therapist based in London and I also work online. I work with different therapeutic approaches to suit an individual’s needs. My approach is collaborative - we work together to find your own authentic self, to develop a story of who you are and map out your future.

My previous clients have told me I am kind, empathic, patient and create an empowering environment in therapy. I am a ‘heart on sleeve’ and ‘glass half full’ type of person.

To me, the most important element in therapy is the relationship between the client and therapist. I believe if you can talk to a person and you can trust them then these are solid foundations for successful therapy. I work in an intersectional way, exploring what makes clients unique. For example, how the combination of a person’s race, culture, class, age, gender, sexuality etc shapes how they experience the world.

I am also a professional potter and, if appropriate, I like to work in creative ways with clients.

As a result of my own personal experience, I am particularly passionate about supporting people with anxiety and also family members of people with learning differences (difficulties) and chronic health conditions.

I offer a 20 minute free phone consultation for you to explore if I am the right therapist for you. And I also offer news clients an introductory rate of £40 per session for the first four sessions.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold an Advanced Diploma in Counselling from Heartwood Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy (accredited with National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society). I have over 200 hours experience as a therapist, working with clients from a range of backgrounds and with varying mental health challenges.

I also hold a PhD in Social Science from Queen Mary University of London. I have worked for over 12 years as a researcher across the UK and in Nepal. Throughout my career, I have spoken to hundreds of people from different walks of life about what is important to them, the challenges and highlights in their life and what gives them meaning. To me, there are many overlaps between therapy and research. For example, the need for active listening, that people are experts in their own lives and the desire to look for patterns and relationships within ourselves, our communities and the world around us. For four years I worked with people experiencing homelessness, mental ill-health and addiction.

I am an accredited member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS). This means I have met the NCPS high quality standard as a practitioner, and practice in accordance with their guidelines and code of ethics. I am also a member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP).

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
