About me
Psychotherapy and EMDR sessions are available to clients aged 18 and upwards to help you overcome emotional difficulties caused by current life challenges or by past events.
I specialise in offering EMDR sessions. If you have tried therapy before and have struggled to get the outcome you need, EMDR may be a helpful option for you in identifying and reprocessing old beliefs, worrying thoughts and difficult feelings, enabling you to feel better.
As an experienced therapist with over 33 years of experience, my personal life experience and training to date have shaped me to be straightforward, down-to-earth and forward-thinking.
I am passionate about my work and the long-term benefits that can be gained by increasing awareness and developing new skills and creative solutions to apply to old problems.

Your appointments
Appointments are often weekly.Short-term can be helpful if you want to focus on a particular issue or recent experience and have a readily identifiable issue. The medium to longer-term may suit you better if you want to make some more changes on a deeper level. You do not need to try to work out which you want/need before coming, we will work this out together based on the difficulties you are bringing and outcome you are looking to achieve from our time together.
How I work I use a blend of methods drawn from integrative psychotherapy approaches, Gestalt, EMDR , CBT, cognitive behavioural therapy , ERT, Neuro linguistic programming , Hypnosis, transactional analysis , EFT and Coaching. As you develop greater insight, expand your thinking and make changes at a pace that is right for you, you will feel more readily able to make changes.
EMDR is available as a stand-alone therapy or blended into our sessions to help process past or current events that may be blocking your progress and EMDR can be a very different experience to conventional talk therapy and is an effective approach for a range of issues. Some sessions of EMDR may involve minimal therapist-client talking. Some clients find this easier. We can work flexibility within a range of approaches, to achieve what you need.
Starting to work with a therapist can be one of the best decisions you make.

school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
