About me

What can I help with ?

There are many reasons why you might be looking for a therapist. You may be experiencing anxiety because of a feeling that you cannot clearly articulate, resulting in feelings of uncertainty and low self-esteem. You have may experienced a traumatic event that for you feels unbearable. It may have happened years ago or recently but you find it overwhelms your sense of self. You may be discovering that you respond differently to others in your life, isolating you and causing relationship issues.

We do not have to live like this,  we can do what may seem impossible and find ways through with therapy and experience our issues differently or not at all. As a therapist, I am here to work with you as you untangle those feelings and clarify your perceptions, allowing you to prioritise; to connect or even re-connect with the things that really matter to you.

Trust and Empowerment

I aim to work in partnership with you based on trust. I offer a confidential environment where I listen to you and we explore together to find your meaning. At the end of therapy, you may change things in your life that no longer suit you or you may feel that understanding a different perspective has enabled you to embrace your life. Whatever the outcome, you will feel more in tune with yourself, freeing you to choose your next steps.

How I work

There are many different disciplines within Psychotherapy. I am an Integrated Existentialist Psychotherapist. This means that I have a broad experience in different disciplines but focus our relationship within the existentialist philosophy and outcomes.

Existentialists believe that, as people, we have the right and the opportunity to be comfortable in the world. Comfortable with ourselves, with our intentions and our ability to be whom we wish. It is about finding your way of being rather than just fixing problems as may happen in CBT. You do not have to worry about understanding exactly how I work rather my advice is that if you feel that I am not listening and responding to you then I am not offering good therapy.

My time with you will see us working together to allow you to become the person you chose to become. We agree and set goals and we challenge those goals as appropriate, as we grow and develop over time.

Please email me with what has brought you to therapy and let me know when the best time is for me to call you back.

I will call you back as soon as I can. We will arrange for a complimentary 20 minute telephone call to see if I can help you and whether you feel that working with me is right for you. We can then arrange any next steps.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
