About me

Welcome. Whatever you’re going through right now, I’m glad you’re here. I work with a wide range of issues and have additional skills and experience in working with neurodiversity, parenthood and palliative care.

I’m Sarah, an Integrative Counsellor & Psychotherapist here to support you as you navigate whatever challenges you are facing. I blend a person-centred approach with Attachment Theory and CBT techniques where appropriate, to tailor our sessions to your specific needs.

I offer a warm and non-judgemental environment for safely exploring your thoughts, feelings and experiences, helping you to feel heard, valued and understood. Our work together will be led by your needs and wishes, guided by my knowledge and experience, providing you with emotional safety and compassion right from the start. If you’re not sure what you need, we can figure it out together.

Neurodiversity Affirming: Taking a holistic approach, I consider not only your emotional needs but your unique neurodiversity. As a neurodivergent therapist, I bring a nuanced understanding to our sessions, ensuring an inclusive and accommodating space across the neurodiversity spectrum, a space where differences are welcomed and celebrated.  Whether you’re self-diagnosed, have a diagnosis or are considering the possibility that you may be neurodivergent, I can offer you a space where you can be your wonderful self with someone who gets it.

Postnatal Support & Parenting: With an extensive background in parenting and family support, I offer space for those navigating the rewards and challenges of parenthood and family life, from pregnancy, through the post-natal period and beyond. Understanding the changes this stage of life can bring and the impact it can have on your mental health, career, relationships and wellbeing, I aim to nurture and support you as you develop into the parent you want to be. With a focus on understanding and embracing the individuality of each child, I also offer specific support to parents through the joys and complexities of raising neurodivergent children. If you have a very young baby who needs to attend sessions with you, I will work to accommodate this where possible.

Bereavement, Loss, Palliative Care & Life-Limiting Illness: With experience of hospice counselling and working in the emotional landscape of loss, together we can explore any aspect of your situation, coping mechanisms, making meaning and building resilience through the most challenging of circumstances. When time is scarce and more precious than many can appreciate, we will work flexibly and in the way you need to make this time as beneficial to you as possible.

I can offer you a telephone consultation free of charge, to hear what you are struggling with and identify what you might need from therapy. It’s also a great opportunity for you to ask questions and for us to see whether we’re a fit for working together. After this, if you’d like to book with me, I charge £50 per session. I offer reduced fees to students and NHS/Bluelight in block bookings.

Sessions are usually 50 mins long and ideally weekly, although session length and frequency can be negotiated as required. I work face to face in the DE56 area and also offer online sessions.

Email me here or call 07941 941 354. Please leave a voicemail with your name and number, as I may be with a client when you call. I will contact you within 48 hours.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
