About me
I am a humanistic counsellor and use a variety of approaches and theories to cater for your needs, including exploring past experiences and how these or current events may be affecting you. As a counsellor, I have worked with clients who have experienced domestic abuse or trauma. I currently work for a not-for-profit organisation that specialises in counselling adult survivors or victims of sexual violence, trauma or child sexual abuse. Alongside this work, I run a busy private practice.
I am a Registered General Nurse – An adults and Children’s Nurse, with over 30 years of health care experience and 18 years working with education and health, as a School Nurse. I have a wide range of experience in working with children and young people, particularly those who are experiencing overwhelming anxieties, and depression. I worked within schools and at home with young people who were exploring their gender identity or exploring whether they were neuro-divergent (autism).
As part of my continuing professional development, I regularly attend workshops on counselling and mental health updates. These courses have included safeguarding with children and young people, as well as one on adults.
My clients say that I am a non-judgmental supportive counsellor, who is also holistic and gives space for them to explore with compassion and empowerment.
Training, qualifications & experience
Level 4 Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling. This is a two-year programme using an integrative approach to counselling theory and practice and is accredited by the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy).

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
The Association of Christian Counsellors and Linked Professions is a professional body representing and setting standards for Christian counselling and care in the UK. The organisation is made up of various different membership categories, including Counsellor and Accredited, and requires all members working as counsellors to undertake Continuous Professional Development on a regular basis.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
