About me

Hello, my name is Rebecca and I am an art psychotherapist and EMDR trainee. I help people who may be feeling depressed, anxious, experiencing PTSD symptoms, experienced loss or need a space to explore past experiences and relationships.

I believe the therapeutic relationship to be the most important part of therapy to help transform experiences of trauma and loss. Together we start where you feel safe and think about your goals for therapy. Sometimes words are too difficult and we need another tool to help talk. The use of art materials whilst speaking can create a non-intrusive and gentle way to communicate past experiences.

I provide art therapy in Brighton or online therapy via Zoom. I provide a free 30 minute consultation.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have worked in public services for over 10 years in a variety of settings, including charities for domestic abuse, dementia, epilepsy, and mental health NHS settings.

Since I qualified as an Art Psychotherapist I have provided art therapy for children, young people and adults. I have facilitated both individual and group art therapy within schools, universities, children's foster and residential care, adult community mental health services, and substance use charities such as Change Grow Live and the Amy Winehouse Foundation.

The majority of my experience has been helping people with experiences of trauma, early relationships and bereavement.

I have also trained in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) Level 2 and Child Accelerated Trauma Treatment (CATT), which I can incorporate into your therapy.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

HCPC
Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.

Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

Traumatic bereavement and loss, including pregnancy loss, miscarriages, accidents and natural disasters and pet loss. EMDR can be beneficial for experiences of traumatic bereavement.
