About me

Experiencing life, means experiencing its struggles and paradoxes which can leave one with unresolved knots and a sense of stuckness that requires holding, containing and reflecting to resolve. My work offers clients the space to open up, reflect and understand how they came to be in this position and how they can reinterpret their perception of themselves and the world with more self-compassion, in order to feel more integrated, whole and empowered.

Choosing to come to therapy can be a tough decision that requires courage. Overcoming that initial hesitation can take time as it can be difficult to face up to one’s discomforts. Therapy can offer support, reflection, clarification and an outsider’s perspective. I work in a relational way, meaning that I recognise how important it is to develop a therapeutic relationship and how that can help you understand the way you relate to yourself and others. Coming in for a free consultation session can offer you the opportunity to see if this is a suitable service for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I started working as a therapist in 2005. In that time I have met and worked with a diverse group of clients as well as different work settings.  This has ranged from working in private counselling services, NHS primary and secondary care, charities and a psychiatric hospital. I obtained a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology, Regents University, London  and a B.A. in Psychology, American University, Cairo.

I am a Chartered Counselling Psychologist registered with the HCPC, Health and Care Professions Council and member of the BPS, British Psychological Society.

I work from a pluralistic approach, depending on the individual’s needs, with the awareness that one approach does not fit all. The modalities I trained in range from: Existential Phenomenological, Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Humanistic, and Focusing Orientated Techniques. Depending on the individual’s needs I offer time limited work or open ended work.

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
