About me

Any area:  I provide confidential online and phone talking therapy sessions.

Speciality:
I specialise in supporting individuals with Autism, ADHD, Anxiety, Depression,  Overcoming Worry, Panic, Low Self-Esteem, Social isolation, Avoidance, Chronic Pain, Genetic Disorders, Difficulty in Regulating Your Emotions, Grief/Loss, Relationship Difficulties, Stress, and Career Counselling.

Finding the right counsellor is important.   To ensure counselling is right for you and we can work together, I offer an initial pre-counselling introductory chat (which last between 20 to 40 minutes) where you can ask any questions you may have.

Introduction:
If counselling is new to you and even if you have had counselling in the past, it can be a daunting experience choosing the right counsellor or therapist.  You want to feel reassured you have found the right person who can help you understand and explore difficult moments in your life with their expertise, and a non-judgemental approach.  With this in mind, I understand each client's requirements are different, and this difference is taken into consideration each time with empathy, compassion and care.

As a qualified therapeutic counsellor with specialist training, I have years of experience working in healthcare with Adults and Young People (YP).  I offer bespoke therapeutic counselling services for each client, understanding what matters most to you, and what you feel comfortable exploring.   There is no pressure.    You can take your time, at your pace, to understand what you are experiencing.

The process:
Each session provides a safe confidential space for you to explore your difficulties.

1.   Introductory Session:  You can meet Pamela to say "hello", prior to confirming commencing counselling sessions.  This initial chat lasts between 20 to 40 minutes, and can be via video or phone, and cost £10.00.   You can explore if counselling with Pamela is for you, and in turn, if Pamela can support you with the difficulties you are experiencing.

2.   The Assessment: The next session is known as your pre-counselling initial assessment appointment (PCIAA).  This session captures a timeline of difficulties you have experienced throughout your life, and you can explore what feels comfortable for you to share at your pace.   The assessment session last between 60 to 90 minutes.

3.   Counselling sessions:   After your initial assessment, and once confirmed, your sessions can be weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly, this is your decision.   Each session is focused on you and what you would like to explore.   After your assessment, each counselling session last up to 60 minutes.

4.   Duration of counselling:   Short and long-term counselling sessions are avaliable.   However, this is your decision.   It is important to know that you have the deciding say on whether or not to continue with your counselling sessions.

How much do sessions cost after my initial pre-counselling introductory session?

5.   Individual | Counselling session prices effective as of the 1 April 2024:
 - £10.00 Pre-counselling introductory session.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
