About me

Hello, my name is Nimah, and I am a BACP member dedicated to fostering healing and well-being. My passion lies in providing individuals with Nature-based therapy, specifically through serene forest walks. I practice Shinrin-Yoku or 'Forest Bathing,' creating a tranquil space for people to slow down amidst the chaos of daily life, embracing mindfulness and meditation.

What to expect from therapy

People often seek counselling for various reasons, such as feeling depressed, anxious, or grappling with grief and relationship issues. My approach extends beyond addressing immediate concerns; it's about helping individuals navigate challenges, process traumas, or simply understand themselves better. After all, as the saying goes, 'knowledge is power,' and self-awareness empowers us to shape our lives and destiny.

My experience

In my over two years of experience in counselling and mental health, I've become a fully qualified solution-focused therapist and a trainee mindfulness practitioner. My work includes supporting employees through a 24/7 EAP helpline to help with a wide range of presenting issues. I adhere to the BACP's codes of conduct. As a registered member, I carry professional liability insurance, a current DBS certificate, and continuous training in safeguarding.

How I can support you

My therapeutic toolkit encompasses mindfulness, forest bathing, and traditional 'talking' therapies such as CBT, SFBT, and person-centered counselling. I also offer sessions in various formats, including face-to-face, online via Google Meet, or by phone. Additionally, I've introduced walking therapy in the Oldham area, allowing clients to connect with nature during our sessions.

My commitment to professional growth is evident in the additional training I've undertaken, including courses in Shirin Yoku (Forest Bathing), Mindfulness, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Skills. I hold a Counselling and Psychotherapy BSc (Hons) degree and I am also a Silvercloud Supporter, providing mentorship on the CBT platform.

Since 2021, I've had the privilege of working with diverse clients in schools, IAPT services and mental health charities; addressing concerns such as general anxiety, depression, bereavement, abuse survivors, and relationship issues. Most commonly, I help individuals experiencing work stress who are feeling  burnout to navigate their goals in life and move towards a more positive future, using the outdoor environment to facilitate exploration and strengths rather than your limitations.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

Following my training on the Mindfulness Practitioner Training Programme, I have been successfully delivering the MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction) course to mental health charities and local communities. MBSR is an 8-week structured program designed to cultivate mindfulness, which involves paying purposeful attention to the present moment without judgment. This course aims to teach you practical techniques to manage stress, enhance well-being, and develop a deeper understanding of your thoughts and emotions. Through a combination of mindfulness meditation, gentle movement, and awareness exercises, you are guided to explore your inner experiences and build resilience in the face of life's challenges. MBSR empowers you to develop a more mindful approach to daily living, fostering a sense of balance and greater mental clarity. If this course is of interest to you or your organisation, please get in touch with me and we can discuss this further.
