About me

Hello, my name is Natascha and I am a qualified Integrative Psychotherapist and Psychotherapeutic Counsellor with a child and young person specialism. I have extensive experience working with children, young people and adults presenting with a range of issues, including depression/low mood, confidence/self-esteem, grief and loss, anxiety/stress, relationship issues, trauma, abuse and addiction.

As an Integrative Psychotherapist and Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, I use the principles, values and theories of a number of approaches, including Transactional Analysis and the Person-Centred, Trauma-informed and Creative approaches in my work. For example, my work with children and young people will see me include creative approaches such as sand tray, clay and drawing, either alongside talking therapy or as a standalone, depending on what my client needs.

I believe that integration is at the core of the work I do, both in the way I aim to support and encourage my clients to explore themselves, their thoughts, feelings and behaviours and to think about how their past may be informing their present, so that they might integrate all parts of themselves in the here and now, and through the models I draw on to facilitate this.

Working relationally, putting the relationship between client and therapist at the heart of the work and treating my clients as individuals is at the core of how I work. Providing a confidential, warm, empathic and non-judgemental space whilst being able to draw on models, theories and approaches specific to my clients issues and age allows me to offer a bespoke service and work with my clients to meet their individual needs, encourage realising their own answers to their problems and support facilitation of their desired outcomes.

Training, qualifications & experience

Originally from London, I returned home after completing my degree at Leeds University to work in medical and social care recruitment. This work inspired me to train as a Counsellor but it was when I took over the running of a family business, a role I continue to enjoy to this day and now combine with my therapy work, that I had the opportunity to undertake training at the BACP accredited Westminster Pastoral Foundation in Kensington, qualifying as a Psychodynamic Counsellor in 2006.

Through my work, therapeutic work and particularly the voluntary work I undertook in schools and charities, I witnessed an increasing need for therapeutic support for our children and young people, an area that I didn't believe my training was specialised enough for me to work in, but one that I was keen to expand in to.

So it was that after a move to Harrogate, North Yorkshire, in 2017 I undertook BACP and UKCP accredited training at The Northern Guild of Psychotherapy, acquiring qualifications as an Integrative Psychotherapist with a child and young person specialism and as an Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counsellor with children, young people and, to broaden my knowledge base and expand on the theories, models and interventions I could use in my work, also with adults.

In addition to working in Private Practice, I have experience working face to face in schools, a GP practice, Charity and Therapy Centre, as well as online and on the telephone, with clients aged 4 to 90. Alongside this, my experience working in business for 25 years has given me both first-hand experience and insight to help support those who may be struggling with the complexities of running and working in a business environment.

I am a registered member of BACP (MBACP) and adhere to the ethical principles of the BACP Ethical Framework in my work.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
