About me

I am aware of the complexities individuals can face and how it can impact on our emotions, social interactions, personal and professional relationships.

With this in mind I feel it is important to empower people to be at the helm of the support they receive, being autonomous and able to build their own resilience with the right support in place. Aiming to provide a client focused service that is warm, empathetic, non-judgemental and genuine to each individual’s circumstances.  In a safe and respectful environment.

My experience has led me to collaborate with many large organisations including The Priory where I worked in a rehabilitation and recovery service for females with complex mental health needs.  Their support needs included schizophrenia and bipolar, eating disorders with some having co-morbid conditions such as mild learning disabilities, alcohol and drug use and borderline personality disorder.

Also with Springfield MIND, part of a national Mental Health charity providing supportive services out of GP Surgeries, delivering pathways for Stress, depression, Grief & Loss, Managing Anger, self-esteem, Feeling Alone and Anxiety & Panic Attacks.

I volunteer my time in the community and have also been a Childline volunteer for more than 4 years working as a primary contact for children calling in a crisis, during this Pandemic.

I also provide a range of workshops in the West Midlands to schools and academies in particular around the controversial Stop & Search power implementing The Home Office's 'Best Use of Stop & Search' scheme.

In addition, I also sit as a member of the affiliated scrutiny panel for The West Midlands Police & Crime Commissioners office trying to ensure the safe implementation of the power.

I have experience working with both adults and children in varying capacities. Providing workshops, Motivational Speaking and Therapeutic intervention to Children and Young people with learning and support needs delivering the outcomes Star tool of which I am a fully licensed practitioner.

My community engagement has led to collaboration with the NHS programmed as a motivational speaker in conjunction with the Mental Health Crisis Care Concordat and sitting on the IAG for Catalyst4Change and collaborating with Birmingham & Solihull Mental Health Trust and other community partners.

I aim to steer the preventative flagship rather than just dealing with the aftermath of trauma and distress by providing affordable therapeutic services.  Working towards a Better Well-Being.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
