About me

Acknowledging that counselling may be what you need can be an overwhelming thought, let alone knowing where to begin in the search for one. Choosing a counsellor who seems right for you can feel daunting. There is so much choice and counsellor’s profiles can seem so similar.

There is no ‘one size fits all’  with counselling because we are all unique and require different things to flourish. The relationship is fundamental to the counselling process. Sometimes we just need another person to fully listen to us, without judgement or offering us solutions so we are heard and accepted, even if at first it is hard to put your thoughts and feelings into words. Because of this, I work with a foundation in person-centred counselling. What this means is that I see you as the expert on yourself. I can assist you in bringing clarity to your thoughts and emotions, and provide a safe space to express how you feel. This can lead to you understanding far more deeply what you may be currently experiencing emotionally.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a member of the BACP and I follow its ethics for good practice, and adhere to their recommendation for regular clinical supervision. I hold an enhanced DBS check, and I am fully insured. I also own a training centre, training new counsellors as well as CPD courses for qualified therapists.

The most important thing when choosing a therapist is to choose someone you feel comfortable with. Someone who “gets” you. Initially, I offer a free phone session. During this I can answer any specific questions you may have, we can discuss what has brought you to look for a therapist and what you're hoping to gain from the sessions. Most importantly you can also decide whether you think I am a suitable person to help you. Meeting with me does not commit you to anything other than being in that session with me.

If you're ready to take the first step, please reach out to me to schedule a free consultation. I look forward to working with you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
