About me

About Me

I am an experienced counsellor working with couples and individuals offering in person sessions in Harrogate and working online with clients across the country. Contact me to arrange a free 30 minute introductory session

Relationship Counselling

Who I help.

Couples wanting to improve their relationship, connection and communication.

Couples facing a challenging life event such as illness, parenting, caring responsibilities, pressure of busy lives.

Couples separating/ divorcing and who want to process  the end of their relationship.

I am trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy which uses attachment science to understand human connection and bonds and gives us an understanding of what is happening when couples feel disconnected from one another .

I have helped many couples to get their relationship back on track. Couples I see are often questioning 'Where has our love gone?'  Feeling desperately disconnected from one another they have lost the ability to communicate without falling into old familiar patterns and arguments. Together we will work at looking at the cycle you are caught in and how to recognise this so you can stop it. We will find new ways of communicating so you can hear each other and respond differently. This will help strengthen bonds and connection so you can begin to enjoy life together again. Relationships are so important to our sense of who we are and how we feel loved.

Individual work with clients.

I have many years experience offering a warm and thoughtful presence in my work. I am curious about 'you' and in trying to understand the heart of your distress. Counselling provides an opportunity to gain new perspectives, find self compassion and understanding and change how you feel about yourself or situation. I enjoy helping clients begin to "hear" themselves and find new ways forward.

I offer counselling for a variety of needs. I have specific areas which I specialise in.

Family issues and parenting

Bereavement and loss

Mental Health - supporting those who are depressed, anxious, stressed

Relationships - couples or individuals wanting to understand themselves and their relationships.

Counselling clients with cancer and other illnesses.

Carers and the impact of caring.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
