About me
Welcome to Broomfield Psychology, we provide psychology and psychotherapy services to children and families, young people and adults. I am Dr Laura Thomson and I work with people experiencing a wide range of difficulties and mental health problems. I offer a professional, experienced and effective therapeutic approach and will work collaboratively with you and your goals for change. I have a caring and approachable style and together we can work through the issues that have led you to seek support.
Laura is an HCPC Registered Counselling Psychologist with twenty five years experience in adult and chid and adolescent mental health. She is an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society and Chartered as a Counselling Psychologist. Laura is trained in psychodynamic, humanistic and CBT approaches, a relational approach underpins her work.
Taking the first steps to making the changes you require can be difficult. I offer a free fifteen minute consultation to help you decide what you would like to change and whether you have found the right fit to embark on the therapeutic work.
Training, qualifications & experience
Laura is trained in psychotherapy and psychology. She has a doctorate in Counselling Psychology and has worked in the NHS and the private sector .

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
