About me

Welcome and thank you for reading a little about me. I hope to be able to assist with whatever is troubling you at this time. Having previously worked in the NHS at a senior level in mental health services, I now work with individuals in private practice, and as a UKCP accredited clinical supervisor. I also work for mental health and trauma orientated agencies with individuals, parents, trainees and staff. I started my career as a psychiatric social worker and manged clinical teams in multi disciplinary mental health and maximum secure settings.

I have trained in psychodynamic psychotherapy at the Scottish Institute of Human relations and later undertook a Masters degree in mindfulness based psychotherapy. I am a UKCP accredited child and adolescent psychotherapist, and a clinical supervisor. I have also trained at the Tavistock clinic in London in working with couples.

For professionals, I am dedicated to taking my lengthy training and experience back to third sector organisations, social services and the NHS who may require direct work with complex clients, parents in distress, or clinical supervision for staff. Recent examples of this are the keyworking pilot for parents with the most complex family needs, NHS funding for medical staff, CCG funding for complex trauma and dissociation, and external supervision in rape crisis and childhood sexual abuse.I am able to provide psychotherapy and clinical supervision online, face to face or in house within the South West region (day rates apply depending upon location-please ask).

For individuals, I am familiar with working with people in extreme states, with anxiety, depression and the sequalae of childhood abuse. Sometimes there are coping strategies that may no longer be serving you, and look to professionals like acting out, or acting inwardly. I am a skilled investigator and place emphasis on early familial history to include birth. I'm qualified to understand early attachment patterns, and transgenerational stories that may not have been told. With compassion and skill I support your journey of sanity to expand into a shape that allows you to feel your emotions, and connect with your relational, authentic self.

I offer to work via teletherapy, online or face to face. I work online routinely with people from other countries, and people who are unable to travel.

Experienced, highly qualified, ethical, insured and supervised integrative psychotherapist. Over thirty years of working therapeutically with people who are impacted by a range of emotional and mental health issues.

NHS and social care specialist with extensive mental health knowledge and skills. Fully trained in more than one modality which enhances an integrative approach embracing neuroscience, attachment theory, mindfulness, psychodynamic and cognitive approaches for your journey towards living more fully.

I have a special interest in working with complex trauma, complex ptsd and dissociation. I have undertaken extensive additional training with the European Society for Trauma and Dissociation, and with Women’s Rape crisis and sexual abuse to enhance a specialist psychotherapy programme for three phase unfolding of depth trauma work. I work with people who have experienced ritual abuse, neglect and other forms of childhood abuse that have manifested in survival strategies such as dissociation and parts or alters that are split off from the system. I am curious about the links between trauma, the immune system, autonomic nervous system and chronic pain.

More recently I qualified as a child psychotherapist with UKCP which has enhanced skills and understanding of family life, mental health from the perspective of a young person, and the possibility of working more with parents.

I am particularly interested in parents who experience overwhelm and who may have mental health problems. I sometimes work with parents and children together, and sometimes separately.  I enjoy supporting women to understand their trauma journey before birth so that attachment can be less burdened with ghosts in the nursery. Becoming child qualified has of course assisted with creative approaches to working with young parts or alters, and grown ups too who may wish to explore their young self.

Qualified to work with adults, children and couples.
