About me
My name is Dr Karen Leung, a Chartered Counselling Psychologist registered with the BPS and the Health & Care Professions Council. I am a psychologist with extensive experience in delivering high-quality services for individuals with all common emotional difficulties. I'm also a trained EMDR therapist. Within the NHS, I'm the Lead Psychologist for a mental health service and I work with individuals with a wide range of clinical presentations. I practice multiple models of evidence-based psychological therapy and enjoy working creatively with clients, tailoring individualised evidence-based treatment plans that meet their psychological needs and goals.
I draw upon a range of evidence-based psychological approaches which include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy), Compassion Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Therapy, CBT for Psychosis, Couples Therapy and Family Therapy.
I am a therapist who is compassionate, honest, non-judgmental and is dedicated in supporting my clients in overcoming their own personal challenges. I strongly believe that the therapeutic relationship is essential in facilitating psychological change and I will always strive towards providing a safe and compassionate environment for all my clients.
