About me

Hello, I’m Jess. I am a Person-Centred counsellor based in Cornwall. Change can be scary and difficult to process. Situations such as a new job, new baby, new partner, relationship breakdown, parenting, health problems, bereavement or situations of loss can be hard to deal with.

They can lead to feelings of helplessness, anxiety and depression. Counselling can provide space for people to talk about their feelings, fears and difficulties without having to worry about the impact on their friends and family. This gives people the opportunity to work out a meaningful way to move forward.

You may find yourself feeling anxious, low in mood or feeling stuck but not sure how to change things. Whatever may be going on for you, it can really help to have someone to talk to impartially to give you the space to talk through your difficulties, gain valuable insights and work towards your goals.

I am a qualified Person Centred Therapist and a member of the BACP. I aim to offer you a warm, safe and confidential space where you will be listened to with compassion and without judgement by working together.

I will guide and nurture you in your process, so we can reflect deeply on your concerns and gain the necessary insight into your subconscious, that drives to discover the change that will enable you to move forward in your life and flourish as your authentic self.

It's not easy making the call to ask for support, but you're here so thanks for being brave and taking the first step. I offer a reduced rate for an initial consultation so please get in touch via email or give me a call and we will arrange a time that suits you to see how we may work together.

Training, qualifications & experience

I began my Counselling training back in 2019 and have a background working in health and social care including; autism and learning disabilities/difficulties, physical health conditions and illness as well as palliative care for the NHS and in the private care sector.

Building upon this experience, I have developed my skills and awareness and knowledge within severe, chronic and acute mental health inpatient care, working with common mental health conditions, drug and alcohol misuse, and self-harm and injury and suicide, as well as areas of social deprivation as in homelessness, domestic violence and abuse.

I am fully qualified at a Level 5 Diploma and will be undertaking my BA degree in counselling in Sept 2023. Training and working as a therapist has given opportunities to be a part of change and growth for not only myself but for the individuals I work with. I always strive to offer the best service to each and every individual.

As a registered member of the BACP, I adhere to an ethical framework which values privacy and safety at all times, following strict safeguarding policies for the protection of the client and those around them. Part of my professional practice includes receiving regular supervision for clinical support and monitoring purposes.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
