About me

It can be a tremendous relief to find someone that can truly listen, empathise understand you.

Therapy can feel like a big step; and you may be feeling anxious and apprehensive, I would like to offer you a safe place where you can begin to express your thoughts and feelings.

Working in a non-judgemental way, I will follow your pace, and support you as you begin to make choices that will improve your well-being, confidence and self-esteem; enabling you to express feelings and experience a self-acceptance that can lead to a more meaningful and fulfilling existence.

I work with individuals who are struggling with relationship problems, bereavement, anxiety and depression as well as changes in life style such as retirement, having a baby, children leaving home, or the transition between school and college/university.

I offer short and long term counselling. With an initial assessment; you can then decide if you wish to have further sessions.

Please see below for fees and concessions.

Training, qualifications & experience

Diploma Humanistic Counselling. Certificate of Proficiency.

I have 12 years experience as a counsellor working with adults and young people.

I currently work with adults, and young people over 16. I also have a B.A Hons in Art, enabling me to work creatively and with different media, this is particularly useful for those who might struggle to locate emotions, or are perhaps 'scared' of their feelings; creativity can help to unlock and express these safely.

I have undertaken additional training in trauma, attachment, bereavement, anxiety, depression, working with anger and shame, mindfulness, loss and family systems, neurodiversity and working with adolescents, and adolescent development.

I have further undertaken training in using CBT skills with depression, anxiety and panic disorder. most recently I attended training on eating disorders, understanding the need for self-harming behaviours, body image issues specifically for young people, somatic therapy; how trauma and stress are held in the body and sleeping problems.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

I am highly experienced in working with clients who are affected by neuroatypical processing, and sensory processing difference.

Perhaps you have been recently diagnosed with ADHD or Autistic Spectrum difference, or have self diagnosed. You may have a family member who you struggle to communicate with. Many people are 'wired differently'. I can offer a safe place to share concerns and support with strategies that can be very helpful.
