About me

I am a humanistic counsellor, trained in Transactional Analysis, although I use a variety of different modalities in my practice. I believe in the ability of every individual to grow and develop their potential. We all have the potential within ourselves to grow. In counselling, the relationship between the therapist and the client is at the heart, it helps to unlock the process, which results in being able to manage and overcome difficulties, yet offering an opportunity for new understanding, increasing self-confidence and improving relationships with others. I actively attend further training to ensure that I continue to improve my counselling skills.

I take an anti-discriminatory LGBTQ+ affirmative stance, and I am open to difference in all its forms.

Areas that I have the most interest in include: Depression, Trauma, Post-traumatic stress, Abuse, CSA,  Autism spectrum, ADD/ADHD, Addictions, Chronic illness, Cultural issues, General relationship, Stress, Panic attack, Anxiety, loss and bereavement, Low self-esteem.

I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and the Hampshire Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (HACP). As a member of BACP I follow their code of ethical and professional conduct and regularly attend clinical supervision as this is good practice and ensures I am practising at my best.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

I provide a non-judgemental, warm and confidential environment that can support clients to explore feelings that they are finding difficult to confront, or aspects of their lives that they may desire to better understand. I believe in the ability of every individual to develop their full potential. Developing further understanding of your own thoughts, emotions, and behaviours through a trusting relationship between a client and counsellor enables the client to achieve their goals in life and discover a more meaningful and satisfying way to live.

The first session is  about welcoming the client and getting to know each other. I will provide information about how I work, what to expect from therapy and whether I can be of help to you. There will be an assessment form and contract to go through. It is the moment for you to ask questions and to get a sense whether you would like to work with me.
