About me

I provide a space where clients can explore difficult emotions and experiences in a setting which is safe, confidential and empathic.

I believe that through gaining deeper awareness and connection to our emotions and responses, we can be empowered to have greater choice, and live in a more meaningful and connected way.

There are many reasons that you may be seeking out therapy. It could be in relation to past experiences, struggles in relationship, identity, loss, anxiety, depression, feeling unable to cope, stuck, overwhelmed or burnt-out. Our first session together will be about exploring what brings you to therapy, and thinking about whether we could work well together.

I offer interventions and reflections to explore your thoughts and feelings. My approach encourages closer attention to how the body responds, to foster a deeper mind-body connection. I offer supportive challenge alongside compassion. We will work collaboratively to develop your internal resources.

I work Integratively drawing on humanistic, psychodynamic and attachment-based approaches. My practice is relational and trauma-informed. I understand that experiences in relationship deeply impact how safe and secure we feel. I also hold an understanding that the things we often see in ourselves as ‘problems’ are actually healthy responses to past difficulties.

I work with an awareness of how systems of oppression impact us and I make space to explore and honour different intersections of identity. My practice is queer and trans affirmative.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am BACP registered with a Diploma in Integrative Counselling and I am also completing an MA in Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling from the Minster Centre. Alongside my private practice, I work as a group therapist in a therapeutic community with refugees and asylum seekers who are survivors of violence. I have 8 years’ experience working in the field of mental health, within charities, therapeutic communities and the NHS.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

There are times where it may feel difficult to reach out or commit to coming for an initial session. If this is the case for you, or if you would like to know more information to understand if working together would be right for you, please reach out via email at ibn.therapy@gmail.com . We can arrange a short (20 min) free introductory call.

If we decide to meet, our first meeting will focus on understanding why you have come to therapy and what you hope to get out of it. It will also give us both a chance to get a sense of each other and work out if we can build a relationship that will be therapeutic for you.

I offer weekly sessions at the same time each week. Sessions last for 50 minutes.

Should you wish to arrange to meet or ask any questions please either contact me through the form on this page, or email me.
