About me

I am a registered psychotherapist with 18 years’ experience providing Integrative-Relational Psychotherapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) face-to-face, over Zoom, or by telephone. I offer concessions to students; people on low incomes; and those receiving unemployment benefits.

As an integrative psychotherapist I am able to consider the issues you bring from a range of clinical perspectives and will tailor our work together to meet your specific needs in the most effective way possible.

Issues I work with include low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, loss and bereavement, stress, anger, abuse, coercive control, identity issues, trauma, post-traumatic stress, menopause, body image, phobias, compulsions, panic disorder, illness, loss of motivation, dilemma resolution, misattributed parentage experience, and existential crises.

I work with people of all ages, from diverse backgrounds, and am passionate about achieving therapeutic outcomes that are positive and long-lasting. I combine evidence-based, cognitive behavioural techniques with deeper analytical and philosophical therapy to ensure that we get to the root of the issue, whilst finding the solutions that work best for you.

My approach is warm and empathic and I offer a safe, confidential space in which difficult thoughts and feelings can be explored without judgement. Our work together will enable you to ‘tilt the lens’ and gain new perspectives on yourself, your relationships and the issues you are struggling with, empowering you to move forward in life with clarity and an increased sense of choice and autonomy.

In addition to my private practice, I have also worked extensively for the NHS and the charity sector and am currently completing a research doctorate. The way I work is collaborative and respectful and, guided by your specific needs, I will use my knowledge and experience to help you:

  • Identify and challenge self-defeating patterns of relationship, thought, feeling, or behaviour
  • Develop an increased sense of self-acceptance and self-esteem
  • Work through feelings of grief, guilt, shame, anger or fear
  • Manage symptoms of anxiety or depression, whilst also addressing the underlying issues
  • Understand how past experiences may be impacting present difficulties
  • Resolve cycles of trauma/post-traumatic stress
  • Explore the existential challenges of being human - from mortality and meaning, to personal choice and responsibility - to ensure you are living life authentically and to your full potential.

I provide both short-term therapy (typically 6-12 weeks) and longer-term/open-ended therapy, as required. Therapy sessions last fifty minutes and usually take place at the same time each week. Where this is not possible I’m happy to arrange a more flexible schedule to fit around work or family commitments.

As a first step I offer a free, introductory, 20-minute telephone call so that we can briefly discuss the issues you are struggling with and you can ask any questions you may have – it’s a good way to find out whether I’m the type of therapist you are looking for. Please use the online facility to book.

If you’d like to book a therapy session (in person, over Zoom, or over the telephone) please call/text 07790 366314 or send me an email . I look forward to speaking with you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a First Class BSc (Hons) in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of Roehampton, Surrey, and completed a further three years' postgraduate training with the Metanoia Institute, London, on the MSc programme in Relational Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy. I have also undertaken postgraduate training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT). I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

The theoretical models that inform my integrative practice are: existential psychotherapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, relational transactional analysis and person-centred counselling.

In addition to my private practice, I have worked for the NHS; the Surrey Youth Counselling Service; at The Eaves, Godalming; The Wharf Practice; a leading addiction recovery service; various counselling charities; RASASC (Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Centre); and within an in-patient psychiatric unit. Prior to qualifying as a psychotherapist I worked in business and the arts.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
