About me

I am a registered psychotherapist and counsellor with over 18 years' clinical experience supporting adults and young people. Sessions are available online or by telephone and I offer reduced fees to trainee counsellors & psychotherapists. I am also a clinical supervisor for trainee and qualified counsellors and psychotherapists.

As an integrative psychotherapist I am able to consider the issues you bring from a range of perspectives and will tailor the therapeutic work to meet your specific needs. I combine an analytical-philosophical approach with aspects of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) in order to explore your concerns and issues in depth, whilst also helping you develop strategies to deal with day-to-day challenges.

Whether you are struggling with current difficulties or unresolved issues from the past, facing fears about the future, or simply finding the stresses of life overwhelming, I offer a safe, empathic, confidential space in which difficult thoughts and feelings can be explored without judgement.

Issues I work with include grief, bereavement and loss; relationship problems; abuse and coercive control; trauma; low self-esteem; generalised anxiety; social anxiety; health anxiety; existential crises and death anxiety; agoraphobia; OCD; depression; stress; menopausal anxiety and depression; anger and rage; borderline personality disorder; narcissistic personality disorder; gender identity and transition; ADHD; phobias and compulsions.

I offer counselling and psychotherapy to adults and young people (aged 16+). Therapy may either be short-term (typically 6-12 weeks) or longer-term, as required.

In tandem with my psychotherapy practice, I also offer ADHD coaching aimed at helping individuals meet the specific challenges that living with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder presents. ADHD coaching is available to young people (aged 14+) and adults who are either formally diagnosed or self-diagnosed. Coaching differs from therapy in that it is highly focused and pragmatic, and it typically takes place over a programme lasting six weeks. Longer-term support is also available. The programme is very much tailored to you as an individual and covers issues such as:

  • Emotional regulation and mood swings
  • Impulsivity and decision making
  • Relationships and rejection sensitivity
  • Time, planning and organisation
  • Rumination and hyper-focus
  • Hyperactivity
  • Co-occuring issues such as anxiety, agoraphobia, depression, OCD, substance use, low self-esteem and eating disorders

Appointments

Therapy and coaching appointments are available Monday to Wednesday between 9am and 5pm either online over Zoom, or by telephone. Please note that I currently have no evening or face-to-face appointments available.

Free Introductory Zoom Call

As a first step I offer a free, 20-minute, introductory call over Zoom or by phone, so that we can briefly discuss the issues you are struggling with and you can ask any questions you may have – it’s a good way to find out whether I can offer the type of support you are looking for. Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
