About me
I am a registered psychotherapist with over 18 years' experience providing integrative counselling and psychotherapy. I offer discounted fees to trainee counsellors & psychotherapists; full-time students; people on low incomes or those receiving unemployment benefits; and some key workers. I am also a clinical supervisor for trainee and qualified counsellors and psychotherapists.
As an integrative psychotherapist I am able to consider the issues you bring to therapy from a number of perspectives and will tailor our work together to meet your individual needs. I combine an analytical-philosophical approach with aspects of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) in order to explore your concerns and issues in depth, while also providing you with the resources and tools to manage day-to-day difficulties or symptoms.
Whether you are struggling with current difficulties or unresolved issues from the past; facing fears about the future, or simply finding the stresses of life overwhelming, I offer a safe, empathic, confidential space in which difficult thoughts and feelings can be explored without judgement. Guided by your specific needs, our work together can help you:
- Identify and challenge self-defeating patterns of relationship, thought, feeling, or behaviour.
- Develop an increased sense of self-acceptance, self-esteem, choice and autonomy.
- Work through grief and loss.
- Manage symptoms of anxiety or depression, whilst also addressing the underlying issues.
- Process feelings of guilt, shame, anger or fear.
- Reset the boundaries in your relationships.
- Understand how past experiences may be impacting present difficulties.
- Recover from trauma and post-traumatic stress.
- Deal with issues relating to identity, including gender and misattributed parentage experience.
- Resolve personal and relationship dilemmas.
- Address phobias and compulsions and develop appropriate coping strategies.
- Explore the existential challenges of being human: from mortality and meaning, to personal choice and responsibility.
I work with adults of all ages and teens aged 14+, from diverse backgrounds, and provide either short-term therapy (typically 6-12 weeks) or longer-term/open-ended therapy, as required.
Appointments are available Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm, online over Zoom or by telephone. You will need an iPhone or laptop to connect over Zoom, but you don't need a Zoom account.
Issues I work with include grief, bereavement and loss; trauma; anxiety; relationship problems; abuse and coercive control; low self-esteem; depression; existential crises and death anxiety; OCD; stress; menopausal anxiety and depression; anger and rage; gender identity and transition; ADHD; phobias; compulsions; ambiguous loss and misattributed parentage experience.
The theoretical modalities that inform and underpin my approach are: existential psychotherapy; psychodynamic psychotherapy; cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT); relational transactional analysis; and person-centred counselling.

Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a First Class BSc (Hons) in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of Roehampton, Surrey, and completed postgraduate training at the Metanoia Institute, London, on the MSc in Relational Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy. I have also undertaken postgraduate training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Clinical Supervision. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
In addition to my private practice, I have worked for the NHS; the Surrey Youth Counselling Service; at The Eaves, Godalming; The Wharf Practice; a leading addiction recovery service; various counselling charities; RASASC (Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Centre); and within an in-patient psychiatric unit.
Prior to qualifying as a psychotherapist 20 years ago, I worked in business and the arts.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
