About me

Welcome! I am a registered psychotherapist with 18 years' experience supporting both adults and young people (aged 16+). I provide Integrative Psychotherapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and offer concessions to people on low incomes, people receiving unemployment benefits, and students.

Therapy provides a unique opportunity to explore difficult feelings, thoughts and dilemmas in a confidential, non-judgemental environment. As an integrative therapist I provide psychotherapy which is pragmatic, analytical and philosophical. I will help you to manage emotional, psychological or behavioural symptoms, whilst also attending to the deeper issues that underpin them.

My approach is warm, empathic and down to earth, and our work together will enable you to ’tilt the lens’ and gain a fresh perspective on yourself, your relationships and the issues you are struggling with. We will look at ways to challenge and revise self-defeating patterns of thought, feeling or behaviour, and introduce new possibilities, allowing you to move forward in life with clarity, self-compassion and positivity.

I provide both short-term therapy (typically 6-12 weeks) and longer-term/open-ended therapy as required. Sessions are available in person (in Hindhead, Surrey) or online over Zoom.

As a first step I offer a free, introductory, 20-minute telephone consultation. This allows us to briefly discuss your requirements for therapy to ensure that I can offer the type of support you are looking for. To book please use the online booking facility or text 07790 366314.

Issues I regularly work with include low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, bereavement, stress, anger, abuse, coercive control, gender identity, body image, phobias, compulsions, panic disorder, loss of motivation, dilemma resolution and existential crises.

My core training is integrative: psychodynamic, existential, person-centred, and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT).

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a First Class BSc (Hons) in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of Roehampton, Surrey, and completed a further three years' postgraduate training with the Metanoia Institute, London, on the MSc programme in Relational Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy. I have also undertaken postgraduate training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT). I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

In addition to my private practice, I have worked for the NHS; the Surrey Youth Counselling Service; at The Eaves, Godalming; The Wharf Practice; a leading addiction recovery service; various counselling charities; RASASC (Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Centre); and within an in-patient psychiatric unit. Prior to qualifying as a psychotherapist I worked in business and the arts.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
